The details? Don't you think that an all-knowing god would have planned for people to be forced to retranslate the bible years after the tower of babel was destroyed and humans (with their free will) would invent new words and languages? I would think that he would at some point forsee the "telephone game" effect in his teachings as time progressed. Do you think its possible that the bible is written metaphorically so as to remain timeless? Perhaps the stories in the bible are written not only so that people during that time could understand it, but to leave it open for updating as time progressed? In other words, don't you think that if god gave us this great book full of ideas and simple rules that would help us all get along and eventually find him in the end, that he would write it in a way that left it open for us to fine tune a little, or do you feel that the bible is word for word literal?

so what, hammer? god was so short sighted that he just left everything in plain black and white even though he knew the world would change? are you suggesting that god is imperfect?

The bible was originally written in three different languages. Hebrew, Greek & Aramaic. Different languages is not a problem for God, who created man with the ability to speak, read and write. Do you think that God would put his name on something that was not ultimately his words, and are recorded for a reason.

Such as to tells us how we got here? Why make up a story??? He is a God of truth and cannot tell a lie. The history of his chosen people, example of his high standards and how they utlimately failed as a warning example for us. Also to show the lineage and fulfillment of the prophecies concerning the Messiah, Jesus Christ. The life, teachings and death of Jesus. Showing how the Jews needed to change and no longer be under the law covenant, but a new covenant of love. The same high moral standards for Christians. The way opened up for all nations and the need to spread the word about Jesus and the hope for the future per all the prophecies in the bible.

God is unchangable, his purpose for man has never changed. "The meek will inherit the earth and live forever upon it" Ps. 37: 10 &11. If Adam and Eve had not sinned, we would all be perfect and living forever.

The bible which was written 1000's of years ago, is not out dated. It's principles and standards still make for a happy life. If people would "just listen to his voice", there would be a lot less problems in the world.

If the "telephone game" had anything to do with Bible translations, this might be an answerable question...

Fact is that the text of the Old Testament was finalized about 400BC and the New Testament around 100 AD. Since then, all translations have gone back to those standardize text. All translation use those same text for their source. It would be like playing "telephone" where the originator goes to each person and repeats the message. Little change of error that way.

If anything, 2000+ years of scholars going over those text, adding to the understanding of them, coupled with discoveries about the society and culture of the Bible times, archeological finds, additional ancient manuscripts, etc. All have made each new translation MORE accurate and more reliable then the news before it.

And you are correct that the Bible often has its people using metaphors, such as the parables of Jesus, just because they are timeless and understandable in any generation. But it also contains historical facts and events. It is not all metaphor.

If you read it with any amount of intelligence, it is pretty obvious which parts are facts, and which are "metaphor". They metaphors will begin "The Kingdoms of heaven is like....", or similar wording.

The Bible is timeless. No matter how much the world changes, the teachings of the Bible remain the same & apply to today as much as they did thousands of years ago.
There are basic truths in the Bible that do not change, no matter how much the world changes.
The sons of Abraham: one would be the chosen one; & would be the Father of a great nation; Israel, the other would be the Father of a great nation also, but not the chosen one; Father of Islam. This is true as was written.
Every story in the old testament has come true. Every word of Jesus has given & reinforced the word of God; to love, forgive, be faithful, honest, compassion, care for the old & raise up the young in respect of God & parents.
What needs to be changed. When you read the Bible, you must look at it as though it were written yesterday, not a thousand years ago. In every word & story you can find a parallel to our lives today. You must open your mind to this fact & apply the words to the now. No need to change the Bible, just change your way of thinking.

I've pondered the same question for a while and I came up with the answer that the all knowing God created the bible in the way he did so people would research and seek the answers for themselves.

If you know a history exam will be coming up soon and you are given a sheet with all the correct answers on it before hand, are you going to read your history book or memorize the correct answers for the test? Most people would just memorize the answer sheet, thus failing to learn some very important details.

It is stated in the bible that those who seek out the Lord will be rewarded with wisdom. It was a whole entirely different time and culture during the time in which the bible was written. It take some research and seeking to learn the mindset, culture, and language of the people who wrote it. It is repeatedly written through out the bible to seek out the Lord. In my opinion this cannot be completely accomplished by just listening to someone tell you their own interpretation of the word every Sunday (or in my case Saturday) One must seek out the word themselves.

Even if a person does this and they are still at a loss of understanding its okay, at least they are trying....If God See's that they are trying he will give them more wisdom......

God cares about everything that His children care about, which includes the details.

God's Word is true; however, there are some parables in the Bible used to get a point across.

God gave us different languages, we didn't create them.

The Word of God is meant to be taken literally.

I dont think god would care. I think the bible is nowhere close to the words of jesus. the church has currupted the foundation of christianity so much that people don't even realize that the church forces you to sin. one of the 10 commandments is thou shalt not worship any false idol......have you ever looked around a church? thier are statues for us to pray to that are not even the aposles let alone jesus or god himself. did god come down and say it was ok to worship this saint? no a man did that a man said yes uts ok to pray to this saint. the bible was also writen by MAN not god, thier is not one gospal of jesus, and the one scripture that i've heard that some believe to be the words of jesus and it sounded to me like it would be the words of jesus are denied by the church because it said that you do not have to go to a building to worship me...look under a rock and you will find me there. that sounds like something the son of god would say to me but instead we lissen to the words of men.....and not our hearts

Yes, I'm sure IF God gave us such a book it would be both metaphorical and timeless.
