Would you think it weird if you have a strong dislike for someone and then you discover you two have ALOT of things in common? Would that in fact show that you two should hit it off (as friends or more)? Why do people hate each other even when they share common interests?

That has actually happened... I think it is weird... usually the people think someone elses' attitude sucks which is basically the only reason they end up hating them

Well, in all honesty, if we really don't like someone it's ususally because they have something in ourselves we don't like. If you suffer from self esteem problems then I can understand why your enemy is just a mirror of yourself.

Common interest are just preferences, but I find that CLOSE friends or often opposites.

hahaha it's called denial....sometimes you dislike someone because they have a personality that you admire or don't like but you don't want to admit it. so you go into denial and instead say you hate them. but once you get to know them you realize they are not as bad as you though
