It is an example of a "blend word" or "portmanteau word" (from fat and ugly) like 'brunch' from breakfast + lunch or 'motel' from motor + hotel.

However, this word is considered offensive and low class. I would definitely avoid using it. For the most part, I have heard it only on the Tom Leykis radio show which broadcasts from Los Angeles. I've never heard anyone in my own hometown use the word.

Fugly isn't really a word. It basically means F---ing ugly.

i never heard of the word 'fugly'. but i do know the word ugly. this is the first time i heard this word. so i believe this is not actually a word.

fugly is a cross between ugly and f.u.k.i.n.g ugly so you get fugly

It's a way of saying "f***ing ugly"

It's a bigger insult than saying just ugly.
