If your dog is shaking his head and has a head tilt, I would strongly recommend that you seek medical attention for him, his infection could be deeper than what you think you may see as a clean ear. Ear Mites can only be seen Microscopically as well. Please seek veterinary attention for your pet.

if your dog has floppy ears , he could have a yeast infection in them. You should bring him to the vet as any yeast infection can be irritating, itchy and painful. sounds silly, but my dog gets them often. Your vet will swab the inner ear and then give you a wash and drops. When you wash your dog, keep your hand over the ear to avoid water getting in. What ever you do, dont just assume its earmites and try to save $ by getting mite medicine from the store as this can make it worse. I know i did this to my poor poochie and will never again do this. My ver said that dogs do get mites but not as often as you would think. Mites happen more in cats than dogs, but dont mess around. If there is an infection, it can cause equilibrium problems and a cranky dog. He may have an inner ear problem which wont show signs in the outer portion of the ear which can also contribute to his head leaning.

i would take the dog to a vet asap. it sounds like mites. the vet can tell you by sticking a scope in the ear and looking for movement. if the mites are deep enough in the ear you might not be able to see them. if there is black discharge or wax in the ear then its definately ear mites. this can mess with your dogs equalibrium so you need to get special drops for the ears to get rid of them. have the vet check for other parasite also. fleas, worms, etc. take in a stool sample when you go

It sounds like an ear infection, or maybe a burr or grass awn in the ear canal.
We suggest that you get your dog to a vet. If it's an infection, the vet can give you medication to deal with it. If there's something lodged in the ear canal, the dog may need surgery to remove it... but only your vet will know for sure what you're dealing with.

sounds like ringworm to me too. Is it on the interior or the outdoors area of the ear flap. you should use what the decision "blue coat" on him and could shop it from spreading yet you should shop it on continuously. There are also shampoos accessible that ought to help manage it too. seem on the information superhighway and word what you'll discover. Fosters and Smith may have it or KV VET may also carry something. i trust there may also be a vaccine for it out on the marketplace. i'd nevertheless have him regarded at incase i'm incorrect, is also dry dermis. Is it scaly or flaky? in case you do not get it dealt with, it may worsen and also you'll surely capture it. Spores from the positioning of the ring malicious application can get on to different such issues as furniture, walls, clothing and dermis. i'd contact your vet interior the morning and get his/her enter on it. wish this helps.

Head shaking and rubbing is a classic sign of a foxtail or burr in the ear. A foxtail is a seed with rough edges that gets far down the ear canal and often you can't see them yourself. The vet can see it with a scope. If one is there, he will sedate the dog and pull it out. Without gettign it out, it will migrate further down and cause further dmage, so it has to be treated.
I think vets in my area must make a fortune on foxtails sometimes, it happens so often. They get them in their noses and foot pads too.

Has he had a bath latley? could be water in his ear and that will lead to infection. Could still be an infection and it's just not bad enough to smell it yet. I'd take him in and find out for sure. a bug could have crawled in his ear too!

It does soudn like ear mites, which means he more than likely has fleas also.
He's probably extremely uncomfortable.
If you look in his ears and see little black specks, you'll know for sure he's got mites.
A simple trip to the vet will clear it right up. They can also offer you some preventative medicine to keep fleas and mites at bay.
