To be forever separated from God...and separated from his evil whims of eternal torture and sadistic tests and required worship...sounds like a good deal to me!

Fortunately you'll all get your wish.

I propose that the real essence of your question has more to do with the issue of whether or not God is “good”. If God were not “good”, then who would want to ‘hang out’ with Him? It’s a valid question. Although you have apparently already made up your mind on this issue, perhaps, some who are reading this still have open minds regarding the nature of God.

The God of the OT is exactly the same “today, tomorrow and forever”, according to the Bible. He never changes [His Character].

The OT psalmist, King David, knew God well and said, “Thy loving-kindness is better than life”.

Another OT writer said of God, “Better is one day in your courts than a thousand elsewhere”.

These were examples of OT people who had experienced both the overwhelming grace and mercy of the ‘OT God’, as well as His uncompromising demand for righteousness and judgment for sin.

These OT writers spoke regarding the ‘fairness’ of God. They said, “true and righteous are all Your judgments”. The same declaration was made by the Apostle John in the New Testament, Book of “Revelation”. His vision was of all people standing before God saying, “true and righteous are all Your judgments”.

“God’s ways are not man’s ways”, the Bible tells us. To be sure, it is more difficult for me, as a believer in the ‘OT God’ to acknowledge the fact that heaven may have as residents some people whom I would not have chosen as ‘qualified’ recipients of God’s mercy and grace. It is entirely likely that some “mass murdering psychopaths” of our time (who came to repentance and made their peace with God through Jesus Christ), may be future residents in heaven right along side those whose love for God and righteous acts are well known. But, this is the God of the Bible, both Old and New Testaments. His mercy and grace extend to even those who “put to death the very Son of God”. Yet, others, who seem to be less wicked than the average person, but have not acknowledged their sin and their need for the mercy of God, are condemned to an eternity of Hell and suffering.

God is infinitely more merciful and loving than any person could possibly conceive. At the same time, God is more vengeful and uncompromising when it comes to punishing sin than anyone could ever imagine. Sorry, if you don’t like it, but, that’s just the way it is. It’s called the “sovereignty of God”. It stems from the fact that since God created and owns everything, He has the right to ‘call the shots’. But, to be fair, every person also has ‘rights’ (ironically, granted by God) to choose (free will) how to live one’s live and whether or not to even acknowledge the existence of God.

Additionally, the fact that God is “all knowing” (“His understandings know no limit”), gives Him the ‘right’ to judge perfectly and ‘fairly’. As infallible humans, how many times have we exercised judgment on a matter only to discover later that our understanding of the situation was either completely wrong or limited in some manner? That is why Jesus Christ told his followers, “judge not....”, because we, at best, have only limited knowledge when it comes to matters of the human soul. Whereas, God (and Jesus) have perfect knowledge of the human heart and soul.

Finally, before you are tempted to “judge” the purposes and actions of God as “whims of eternal torture and sadistic tests...”, please keep in mind the relative understanding that we humans possess compared to the infinite knowledge of God.

The OT God is a sadistic brute.

I'm speaking hypothetically, since he doesn't exist, but definitely. I'd rather go to hell than spend eternity with that god and his horrible followers.

Hell is never mentioned in the Old Testament.

(You weren't aware of this, were you?)

Be very careful for what you wish. You might get it. May the Lord open your eyes.
