So I've never bought lingerie before (I'm not really sure why) and I'm pretty sure that my boyfriend would appreciate it (I thought I'd surprise him on Valentine's Day) but I'm not really sure where to begin. I have a gift card to Victoria's Secret that I'm planning on using today, but I'm not sure what to buy. I'm afraid of feeling silly. Any suggestions on the types of things I should get?? Thanks.

VS's stock is pretty limited. You'll have to get what they have- which will be black, red, white or hot pink. It's all the same.

First of all, stop feeling silly :)

Second of all, it really depends on what you are looking for. Are you looking for something pretty and practical? Or something romantic and suggestive? Or something playful and just says "come here big boy!" I suspect that if you are out buying lingerie the first time, you might just want to get something pretty and romantic. The salespeople at VS are mostly pretty good. They are a somewhat helpful bunch, and they are good at making you feel welcomed. So don't feel silly at all. That's what the entire store is about. You should have some ideas, though, on what mood or sentiment you want to express, otherwise, you'll walk around all day and go "eh....maybe...let's see...." and never decide on anything. Or you might decide on something and feel that it isn't quite what you want. So decide first on how you feel and what you might feel comfortable wearing.

If you want something romantic, you might consider a teddy or a silk nightie with a pair of lace underwear or a nice camisole type top with matching tap pants. Get a pair of stockings if you want to spice it up a bit. If you want something pretty and practical for day wear underneath clothing, then perhaps a matching bra/panty set. If you want playful, then a bra or one of those corset top with a thong, garters, and stockings will always work. I know of no man that can turn you down when you walk into the bedroom with that.

Most importantly, get some idea on what you think you may be comfortable wearing and parading in front of your boyfriend. The worst thing is to get something more provocative that you are comfortable with, and feel all self-concious when Valentine's Day comes.

Lastly, have fun :)

Oh I am so glad that your gift card is for Victoria's Secret, because I was going to suggest you try going there. Their sales clerks are so good at helping you out. It's embarrassing at first, but they really do want to help, and they have pretty much all sizes. You just need to take their assistance when offered, and tell them exactly how you feel. They will go out of their way to help you find just what you feel comfortable with, and they are not trying to pressure you to buy anything. They are just being helpful. Just talk to them when you go in there, and don't be afraid to ask questions. They are used to it. They will not think you are being silly. They get people in all the time who feel as you do. I have done this and was glad I did. Good luck.

There are a lot of pieces that look like delicate sundresses. They aren't too sheer so it's like wearing a dress which most people are used to so they feel more comfortable. Then wear frilly undies or boy-shorts underneath. Go the the Victoria's Secret website and click "I love lingerie" to see what I mean. Good luck!

Since this will be your first lingerie experience you should probably do a little research first. go to v/s website or http://www.sinwagonlingerie.com and just look at the photos. look at the various styles, colors and options and how each garment is worn. I suggest you try something a little sexy, but not too revealing. as you begin to feel comfortable, you can experiment. Don't try to go overboard your fist time, unless you want to be overwhelmed.

Get what you feel looks good on you and you enjoy wearing...if it's uncomfortable, don't buy it...if you don't think it flatters your figure, don't buy it...

Not having a clue what you look like (size/shape/height) it's tough to suggest what you should buy but they do have some lovely things...have the sales associate there suggest a few items that may look good on your body type...

Well, that's a great store to go to if money isn't an issue! Just look for whatever appeals to YOU and what you think you would feel sexy in. Don't worry about your boyfriend...he'll love whatever you buy.

Just get something sexy, thong, not g string and a sexy lace bra...the V girls will help you pick one out. It will cost you around $120 or more for the outfit, but it will be worth it and you will feel more sexier than ever...

Somthing that you will feel comfertable showing off to him in! If your not confident it will ruin the mood for both of you. Color wise get his favorite color or the traditional Holiday color for the occasion or basic black.

Do just like everyone is saying, find something that makes you feel sexy, the outfit is just eye candy... your attitude makes the encounter.
