Yes TT will let you file a 1099, but you'll almost surely owe a lot more than 15%. Depends on how much the two of you make total, and what deductions you have, but 28% for federal wouldn't be unusual, plus state and local. Very likely over 30%. You'll pay not only the ss and medicare you'd have paid as an employee, but another 7.65% that the employer would have paid if you were an employee.

for filing the tax go for the online efiling sites. these sites will file the returns and will provide some deductions.
