Put some Desitin creamy on your baby's bottom. Try to keep the diaper changed frequently.
As far as sleeping on the tummy, my 2 year old would only sleep on his tummy. Everyone is right about the SIDS thing, but it used to be the other way around. If you put your baby on his back, if he tried to spit up, he would choke on it. Or like everyone else said, if you put him on his tummy he could sufficate(sp?).
I think it is okay to let him sleep on his tummy during the day if you are going to watch him.

no longer dumb in any respect. they think of that is because of the fact of respiration... the two infant smothers from pressing that is face down into the bedding (partly why puffier bedding is in many circumstances seen much less risk-free) or that is that infant breathes in extra poisonous off-gassed fumes from the mattress supplies whilst they are face down (the latex and different shape supplies enable off particularly some poisonous fumes, particularly if the mattress is new). Its additionally well worth noting that they do no longer advise putting new flooring into infant's room for form of 6 months in the previous or after infant is born. they think of that the glues interior the flooring could make contributions to 'poisonous ecosystem' issues interior the newborn, which from time to time includeds SIDS. (The 'new automobile' scent could be an outstanding occasion of those kinds of fumes, besides the certainty that we normally spend much less time in a motor vehicle than a mattress room and for this reason the exposure threat is a lot decrease). Newborns normally have much less stepped forward administration of the autonomic applications, jointly with respiration, so it rather is clever to me that introducing specific chemical compounds could, at times, make the situation worse.

it can suffocate,
and have Sudden Infant Death Syndrome!
try letting it crawl around w/out a diaper when u are able to keep a really good eye on it,
instead of sleeping on its tummy.
i think personally its better to let it have discomfort,
than to risk its DEATH.

Baby can rebreathe carbon dioxide it exhales, then that decreases it's respiritory drive, which causes it to slow it's breathing and eventually stop.

because if they throw up they can choke, they can also suffocate because they tend to put their faces straight into the mattress.
