I converted to Catholicism because I became convinced it is the One True Faith. That some priests molested children doesn't change that. They were acting contrary to the Catholic Faith.

You asked why persons would join these churches. I think the real reason in the majority of cases is simply family tradition and history. If you were raised in a religious family, particularly prior to some of the scandals, you tend to stay with the church of your parents. I do not have to approve of the sexual activities of priests to be a Catholic (I'm not Catholic, btw, that's just an example). If you were raised Episcopal (American version of Anglican), you may not approve of the ordination of gay and lesbian church leaders, but that act does not negate the teachings of the church in total. It has been difficult for me to find a religion or a church that I believe in completely. Therefore, you look to the basic teachings of that church and if those teachings reflect your core beliefs, you ignore what you disapprove of and accept the rest. All in all, it's primarily family loyalty.

Because people want salvation.
You can't judge Christianity by the "so called Christan". It's just like a guy who decides to buy an entertainment cabinet, but doesn't use the instructions. When he when he throws away the left over screws and the thing falls apart when he puts his TV in it he can't blame the manufacturer.
I've faced this problem myself, but I try not to put all churches in the same category as the offenders. There are some good ministers and churches out there, but you have to be discerning and let the holy spirit lead you to where you need to be.

I support the war in Iraq because I think that the random slaughter of innocent civilians is the real scandal.
I supported the removal of Saddam because I thought genocide of the Kurds was the real scandal and that oppression and rule by terror was a really, really bad thing.
It sounds to me like you'd just prefer the murders to continue. Is this true?

i individually wish that what got here about interior the final election, that maximum Christians subsidized Bush, won't repeat itself. i ask your self how those Christians experience now that Bush has shown himself to be cheating and unethical. Has no longer this shown that balloting because of the fact the candidate belongs to a definite faith, creates severe issues. If the subsequent President isn't elected for the reason that he/she is honest, ethical, non-biased, non-racist, non prejudicial then united states of america is in for worry. united states of america have lost the honor of tens of millions because of the fact of Bush and his dishonesty and it is going to take somebody with integrity, capability, and each and all the standards pronounced above, to deliver American back to the capability it had in the previous Bush grew to grow to be President. President Bush is an occasion of balloting for the religion, over the guy, easily does no longer artwork. It did no longer artwork final time and it rather won't artwork back. surely the classes found out via the dishonesty of this government, will function a reminder that this time, it must be executed superb.

The media blows everything out of proportion in order to create news. The creators of these scandals represent a microscopic portion of Christians, but because of media exposure they are made to appear to speak for all Christians. This is a lie of the devil, who is in charge of the media. Pay no attention to the media---they have their own agenda and it is not a Christian agenda. TV preachers have an agenda, which is not Christian. I despise TV preachers because they give Christens a bad name.

As fas as the "acts of the few" argument is concerned, I for one agree that there is no reason not to join Nazi organization just because Hitler and a few others were bad.
