My husband gets a 1099 from his boss. Here it is Feb 9th and we have not received his 1099 yet. Aren't W2 supposed to be postmarked no later than Feb 1st? Does the same apply to the 1099?

BOSTONIAN: if they are required to "be in the mail by Jan 31", that means they would be postmarked BY FEB 1 correct ?!!!

1099s and W-2 are supposed to be postmarked 1/31/2007

Talk to your employer if yo haven't received it yet - "R Worth" is right about the amount. If you earned less than $600, don't wait for a 1099 because it probably won't be coming.

It's a lot of work to prepare those stupid forms. I'm glad I don't have to do every vendor!

There is no requirement for any postmark date on either W2s or 1099s. They are supposed to be placed in the mail by 1/31.

The law says nothing about being postmarked by then, oddly enough. One would reasonably expect that they would be postmarked within a day or two of 1/31 but it is NOT explicitly stated.

Yes, and the date is actually Jan 31st.

Make sure that the employer is required to. If he made less than $600 the is not required to by law to give you one. I'd also recommend calling the employer to make sure they have the right address. Plus, it might be in the mail, give it a little bit more time.
