Why cant I see any of my raw files?
If I go to "my computer", after I hooked up my camera, and click on my camera icon there are folders there but they are empty.
I have dpp, cs2, elements.
I have been stumped on this for too long, please help.
thanks

The RAW files (filenames) should be at least visible in any file manager even without using Adobe browsers in PS...they should have something like a .CRW or .CR2 extension. But unlike JPGs, you probably will not see a small thumbprint representation of your photo. You will not be able to do anything with it without the proper RAW file conversion programs (PS CS2 and Elements should already have this, I am not familiar with DPP.)

I would recommend an experiment: set your camera to save the files as RAW along with a JPG thumbprint. If you are also not seeing the JPG, there is definitely a problem. There might be a strange filter set up on your desktop to prevent you from seeing those files (PC issue)...but that would be very odd and it would have to be intentionally set. If you do see the JPG, but not the RAW, then the camera may simply not be writing the RAW files (camera issue). Have you been able to see the RAW files before? What type of camera?

ALL digital cameras photograph in RAW; however, not all cameras can write RAW files for storage...most point-and-shoot digital cameras will convert the RAW image automatically into JPG before you even see the final file.

You need to go to the Adobe website and get the photoshop plug in for your particular camera. Follow the installation instructions and your raw photos should be accessible. Here is a link to their updates. Click on the updates to find the one which supports your camera and you should be good to go.

You need to get a plug-in for your particular camera and editing software. Each camera produces a unique raw format that is not compatible with anything else.
