I have wavy hair, and I straighten the bangs but when I try to striaghten the back, it gets poofy and NEVER goes straight. I cant get it too. What should I use? The only time my hair is straight and pretty is when I didnt wash it for a day,(I wash it ever night) but its all greasy and I hate it! How do I get it to look straight and awesome w/o having to not wash it? Can I use a chemical straightner even though I color my hair every month?

Try frizz ease serum by John Frieda. Maybe use a straightening conditioner on the back of your hair only. Whatever you do DONT chemically straighten it if you color it. My daughter did and all her hair broke off. It took over two years of expensive heavy conditioning treatment to make it better. She would never do it again. Blow dry with a big round brush and keep going over the same area until it's smooth. HAI ceramic flat iron works great. If you want it really straight, use Redkens spray starch before you use the flat iron.

Getting moisture into the hair shaft is the key. There is a book called Curly Girl that actually recommends that those with curly or wavy hair wash their hair with a rich conditioner rather than shampoo - it sounded crazy to me but I tried it and it works. That's why your hair looks better on days you don't wash it. Also, use a gel or leave-in conditioner and let it air dry - it will be wavy but not bushy and I promise it own't be greasy. Don't use a brush when its dry - just comb it right before you wash it and then use your fingers to style. You will have no frizz, just natural wave. I use a ceramic curling iron to style the front. My hair has never looked better. I've giving up straightening forever.

I have the same kind of hair. Basically, the goal is to get the scalp's natural oils onto your hair, but eliminate the greasy look. The solution is to wash your hair as follows: Apply the shampoo to your finger tips only, and massage the shampoo onto your scalp. Never scrub shampoo into the rest of your hair - you want to keep the natural oils. Also, rather than shampooing every day, every other day just apply a little bit of conditioner to the bottom (not scalp) and rinse out.

You can try the straightener called Phytospecific relaxer. It's an at home relaxer you can purchase online or at Sephora. It's a healthier alternative to regular chemical relaxers. Its easy to do and costs roughly around $40. I've written a review on hairboutique.com... http://www.hairboutique.com/tips/tip1250.htm

Also, you can try the japanese straightener but that costs literally $300 + ....
