You should never stop taking any neuro-agents cold-turkey. Best bet is usually to wean yourself down. I suggest calling your doctor and see what he/she suggests .. sounds as though you are experiencing withdrawal right now and perhaps the worst has passed.

Ha. I stopped taking Zoloft a couple of years ago on my own without even telling the doctor. Didn't even tell my own mother. She checked my pill bottle to see if I needed a refill, and she noticed it was still pretty full and she asked me about it. Decided the Zoloft wasn't helping me anymore, so I thought I would stop taking them. Whenever I felt "bad" (as in dizzy or whatever), I would take just 1 pill... then go a few days without taking a pill... only taking it when I felt like I needed to. But I weaned myself off the medication. Oh yeah, I remember the dizziness, and seeing things move even though they really were not moving, etc.

Yes there is a high risk when you just stop cold turkey. But you have found that out already with your headaches/dizzy feelings. You should contact your Dr. or just go to the emergency room and ask them what you should do, explain what you have done and they will advice you. Or you can waite another few day's and then you will have to start all over with a new med to start working.

I took zoloft for many years. As everyone here posted, never go off your medications cold turkey, and especially without your Dr's. knowledge. When you started taking the medication, I am sure you were told it would take about a month to six weeks for the drug to be fully effective. It also takes time for it to leave your body. If the drug was not working for you or you had problems with it, let your Dr. know. I know that a lot of people do not like having to take meds, i take them, i would prefer not too, but they do help me. Please notify your Doctor?

Bad--dangerous! Yes, you are going through withdrawal, and better take a pill right now. You NEVER stop taking this type of medication suddenly--you must have your doctor wean you off very gradually. If you don't have a pill--get to the emergency room now!

You should not just stop taking any anti-depressant cold turkey. There are side affects. These drugs add chemicals to your brain and when they all of a sudden stop coming it is like having withdrawl symptoms. You should talk to your doctor about quitting this drug, you should be weaning yourself off of it, so as not to have any side affects.

Tough it out for another few days and it will be all over. Your almost there. Withdrawl rarely last more than a week to 10 days. Call your friends for support and try not to be alone. Next time, don't go cold turkey. Not fun.

Yup...you can get dizzy and you might begin to experience flu-like symptoms.
You have two choices:
1) Hang on through the terrible side-effects which will probably be 1-1.5 weeks
2) Call your doctor and go back on your meds.

YES. It was stupid of you to stop the medication suddenly. You can cause yourself damage, and some can be fatal. Take your normal dose now, then taper very slowly, but see your doctor to have your taper monitored.
