If you're daft enough to let a dog up on your settee then they are clever enough to make sure they don't leave room for anything else! Dog's really do seem to expand to fit the size of the space they have and as they feel secure, then lying on their backs with all four legs in the air becomes their favourite position.
personally I don't like dogs on furniture. I think it is bad manners for my guests to become covered in dog hair!

It's what I call the "expanding dog theory." No matter what size your dog is they will stretch out to take up as much space as possible leaving you hanging of the couch or bed. LOL!

The floor is for dogs not the settee, they're a pack animal and they need a leader so you have to use your authority and show them who's the boss and the floor is their place, have four GSD's in this house so it would be utter chaos if they ruled me.

dogs like to stretch out and take up as much room as possible. my dog just watches and waits for me to move off the couch and then he takes over. he's a large dobie and he takes up all of the couch. lol he sprawls out on his back and extends all for legs up towards the ceiling.
