I took her to the Dr's about 3weeks ago and they gave us Fucidin cream and diproBase cream. Within 48 hours it was virtually gone and I thought that was the end of it. However, it's flared up again and is even worse than before. The cream doesn't seem to be working anymore. She's got 2 huge patches on the inside of both her thighs and lots of little patches down her legs and around her buttocks.
It's very red & inflamed, raised up and extremely dry, almost scaley. It's very sore and sometimes itchy.
Has anyone experienced something similar & got any tips for something that might shift it?

Thanks in advance!

My daughter is also 4 yrs old and she gets the same symptoms that your talking about, but also on the inside of her elbows. So she gets it on her buttocks, inside of her thighs, inner sides of elbows. I did take her to a dermatologists on one of my appointments and my dermatologist said she has excema. And gave me a cream, she told me to apply the cream once a day only where the rashes are and apply cetaphil lotion twice a day everyday. Stop using the prescription cream when the rash is gone but, always use the cetaphil cream two times a day so that her skin stays moisturized. And she also said to not give her hot baths but instead keep the water on the warm to cool temp. Your daughter definitely seems to have excema, my daughters also itches from time to time. I hope my information was helpful.

sounds like childhood eczema... keep using the creams and try not to let her get too warm as this will flare it up more.. lose clothing helps too.... my nephew had the same and he suffered terrible with it.... also a home remedy i saw on tele helps... get some oats (yes oats!)put some in the toes of a pair of tights and run under the hot tap whilst running a bath.. ther oatmeal that comes out of the oats will leave the bathwater cloudy but it is good for soothing skin conditions

This may be a fungus or a parasite, and this doesn't mean you aren't clean enough, they just happen.
Ultimately you need to go to the doctor again, there are many fungal treatments but some are RX only. My husband had a fungal rash on his leg, and the doc told us to use monistat, vaseline and zinc oxide on it, and it worked.
If its a parasite, like scabies, special lotion has to be applied. You can get it from domestic animals.

Does your daughter have accidents like urinating in her pants, if so it could be Eczema through an allergy to her own urine. My daughter had that problem. We used a fine smear of Vaseline to protection. Our GP gave us something as well can't remember what it was 20 years ago. But see your GP again.

Suggest you take the child to a dermatologist and have scrapings taken and cultured.
