Shape of the container, shape of blade, speed of blade.
Blenders are tall and skinny. They have a small and fixed blade, but can often work at varying speeds.
A food processor has a wider container, often has changeable blades (but not always), and usually only works at 1-2 speeds (although some work at more).
A blender is primarily for, as the name says, blending liquids or near liquids. Some crush ice.
Food processors can chop, cut, dice, grind, grate, puree, and yes... blend.
If you can have only one, I'd go with a food processor.
If you don't cook, but like to mix drinks, then go with a blender.
I used to own only a blender. I tried to use it like a food processor. Didn't work well.
I know only own a food processor (haven't used a blender is 10 years). I haven't missed the blender. Granted, I don't make many mixed drinks. But, when I do, the food processor (or a simple wooden spoon) does a fine job.

The price! Well, I am not sure about the difference, but we have a perfectly good blender and my wife just spent over $200 to get a food processor. She said there is a big difference. If you want to just "puree" something, and make it into a smooth soup, the blender can do that. But different degrees of processing take different type blades and speeds. The processor is more "all-around" and the blender just does one thing.

The difference Is that a blender is better suited for liquid mixing and a food processor for solid chopping and mixing. If you have ever tried to make a liquidy sauce in a processor you would understand. It is very messy. Hope that helped.

A blender can only combine ingredients usually into a complete liquid or grind like coffee beans. A food Processor has a variety of blades for a variety of chores and is more versatile in the kitchen for chopping, slicing, dicing and blending.

A blender mixes and stirs everything together but a food processer just slices the foods up.

Some food processors can also knead dough (unlike blenders).
