In my neighborhood a lot of Jehovah Witnesses and/or Mormons will go around knocking on doors to talk about their religion to people. Just wondering what you think of this?
Thanks!

I think I have a video you will enjoy. It is of John Safran who did a series on Australian tv about religion. Very informative and funny. If you can get hold of the whole series it is worth a watch.

INSTRUCTIONS ON WHAT TO DO ABOUT DOOR KNOCKERS

The best way to learn what to do to stop JWs is to contact a synagogue and talk to the Rabbi.

Ask him how the ancient Jews got rid of the Christian Jews when they went from house to house telling their brethren that the beliefs, rituals, and holiday observances that they have followed for hundreds of years was no longer valid?

I’m sure they had ways to get rid of the members of this cult started by a lower class, uneducated Carpenter, who was executed for cause by the governing authority. These followers were also lower class, uneducated individuals, such as Peter, a failed fisherman, and Matthew, a tax collector.

Lacking any kind of education, let alone advance religious education, it was clear they were brainwashed.

Saul of Tarsus, a highly educated individual, repeatedly proved they were a false religious sect, creating their own scriptures (Bible) instead of relying on the only true scriptures which had been used by the Jews for hundreds of years. He stood by as the true people of God stoned these so-called Christians.

So, just take a lesson from the ancient Jews. What worked for them against the Christian cult should work against the JWs.

i'm one Jehovah's Witnesses, and once we are out in service, we do not enter a belongings that has a NO TRESPASSING verify in it. inspite of if we do not see a demonstration, we seem for the pink painted on fence posts or timber. If we do come on your door, and if by twist of destiny you at the instantaneous are not in touch, you are able to ask to have your call placed on a NO call list. We note of something like that, even a beware of dogs signal we should be quite careful about. And if any of you've been on a belongings, i do not imagine that you may choose a vicious dogs carry close to allow their dogs lose to attack you. we are only doing what we are meant to do "flow hence and make disciples of persons of all the international locations, baptizing them interior the call of the daddy and of the Son and of the holy spirit, practise them to observe each little thing I surely have commanded you."Matthew 28:19, 20.

It is rude! Yesterday, I had the Mormon's come knocking at my door. When I said to them that I was an Atheist, they couldn't leave the property fast enough.

Not really--so long as they don't call too early or too late and are polite enough to leave me alone after I tell them that I'm really not interested. It makes me rather proud to see street preachers wailing away at intersections and Jehovah's Witnesses and LDS roaming around neighborhoods like adult trick-or-treaters. I like our open society. It's something special. The way I see it, a little annoyance is a small price to pay to support freedom of religion and freedom of expression.

Well yes I do, particularly because of the time they do it. Early in the morning, banging on the door... or at a wake because they see there's cars in the drive way. I've even had JW's looking in the windows to try and see if anyone was home. I tend to do things to scare them off, but new batches crop up from time to time.

Never had Mormons show up, apparently they are much more polite. I've had Fundie Bapists and Christian Science folks show up. If you think the JW's can be annoying, watch out for the Fundie Bapists!

I take it as a real opportunity to witness and share my faith.
One time I gave them my testimony and told them how much Jesus means to me. You can't let them interrupt you. I've had them just leave. If they come back I'm prepared to share something else that Jesus did for me. I haven't had too much trouble with them coming back. I once heard a Mormon that had been converted say he never heard a Christian give a witness or testimony. Another Jehovah Witness said to me he had never heard any one explain it that way. It takes more to convert them,
but maybe it will start them thinking, who knows?

You can always either don't answer the door or slam the door in their face which that is even more rude.

Me and my brother likes to mess with their heads with things like "Well Hi!,ya'll come on in where about to sacrifice chickens and drink blood!....ya'll wanna join in?"

My neighbor at one time played with them when the Mormons came knocking on his door and said this to them,"Ya'll c'mon in and stay for awhile cause' where going to go out in the back yard here to burn witches at the stake and bullwhip black people".
They didn't stay nor did they ever came back.

Yes, I do think its rude. Our neighborhood has a 'no soliciting' sign in the front before they ever come in. They knock on our door (which hasn't happened for a long time thanks to my brother!) and I'll tell them about the sign. They say they saw it but they aren't soliciting. So I tell them I'm not interesting in what they're selling and next time they come to my house I'll call the police on them for trespassing because I warned them.

I have been going door to door making sales.for 19 years and have sold about 90.000 of what I sell, this is America. if you don't like them at your door, just say I don't buy from the house,I get all my needs over the Internet or something like that.it s YOUR home, you say to them WHATEVER you want to,I am a Southerner & talk with mostly Southerners.and most everyone is ok with me going to their door, but if you dont like it, it is YOUR home so say what you wish to them.I am kind to people myself, because for one reason , people or kind to me. May God be with you and may the spirit of God guide you.Peace.

And also I was about to be babtized into to the Morman church .welcomed them into my home.having read their book, gone to church many times, they visited many times, but I told them of two miracles God blessed my family with and they got up, called me crazy and left saying that only people high up in their church could do miracles.I am so glad I didnt join that Church.also they Require that you give a certain percentage of your income.I gave them money, presents . food and hospitality and they really hurt my feelings on that one.they sure did.I have decided that religion is not for me.Just having the spirit of God with me is enough
