My son is three. I am getting him a new bed and wanted to know if a pillow top is bad for a child to sleep on.

My son is 3 and my husband got him a pillow top for his new bedroom suit. It's firm so it's not like he sinks down into it. My son loves his bed, which is good for us since he always wanted to sleep in our bed. Try it out yourself first, if it's good for you it should be fine for him. The only thing about the pillow top is it's so thick that we had to use just the mattress on his bed because with the box spring it was just too high. It's still safe and he has been sleeping in it since Christmas and no problems but my husband should have listened to the sales men (for a captains bed).

If you are planning to have more children I would stick to a firm mattress, a three year old is probably ok on a soft mattress but not a baby. Also soft mattresses aren't really good for anyone's back.

It'd be fine for a 3 year old.

It's for small babies that soft bedding is not recommended for.

For a three year old its fine, you no longer have the risk of him suffocating in the bedding.
