i had the same problem i solved it by moving out getting my own apartment and starting to pay my own bills and so far it is working but i wouldnt recomend it cuz when u first start out it can be hard at first it took me almost a month before i was able to spend money without having to worry alot about other stuff and now all i pay is rent, insurance and my cell bill this all comes out to about $485 a month leaving me with about $500 outa my ssi so its good for me

You can talk to your worker about that because the SSI is not like child support. The SSI is there to provide support for people on them, not for relatives or anyone else.
How ironic that these certain people think that SSI is for the others, not for the people receiving them - that is just plain selfish.

FIRST THING IS WHY IS YOUR MOM ON YOUR SSI CHECK TO START WITH. IF IT WAS ONLY BECAUSE YOU WERE A MINOR AND NOT BECAUSE YOU TEND TO BE SOMEONE THAT HAS A MENTAL DISORDER, THEN YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO CALL THE SSI TOLL FREE NUMBER AT 18007721213 AND TELL THEM YOUR SITUATION AND IM SURE SOMEONE COULD HELP YOU

Call the SSI company and tell them you are 18 and older and you want to be your own payee .

you don't ssi check are very similar to child support checks. it is not your check it is to support you and only issued to a parent or trustee.
