I am so puzzled why people don't see the bible for what it is! How can a loving God have murdered women and unborn children? How can a loving God flood the whole earth? How could a loving God create a hell and then use trickery to see that most of us go there? He would not do any of those things.
The bible is the creation of the Catholic church. A church that is surrounded in oppulance due to the fact that they created hell and damnation. By instilling fear, they found a way to control the masses and collect their money.

I think it's sad that you've spent so much time reading the Bible but never received what it had to say.
As a matter of fact, you are exactly what the pharasees were. they had indept knowledge of the Old Testament ("The law of Moses"), but didn't recognize their messiah when he stood right in their faces. Funny actually. But, your question actually depicts your faults.
Your examples are so vague that one couldn't explain it so you will get it. Again, remember the Sadducees when they tested Jesus by asking "Who is greater among theses men?"
Word of advice, is you are going to discuss an issue, lay down specifics to support your views and side of the argument.
An earlier insert asked you for specific time when women in children were killed. I would advice also that when you go back to confirm that event, ready the chapter before, that chapter, and the chapter after it to get the full picture, my friend. The books of Timothy tell states that doom will come to those who take the Bible out of context.
**Now, you see what I did. I gave you specifics to support my side of the argument.
Take care and God bless.

Hi Chippy,
I voted for you for President the other day.
Anyway, what the commandment actually says is thou shalt do no murder. Murder is described as "lying in wait to do fatal harm", simply meaning pre-meditated murder. If you were to shoot someone who was breaking in your house to hurt your family, this is not against the command of God. (In fact, it would be totally Biblical to blow the dudes head off.) Same thing goes for the Military guys.
What exactly are you referring to as far as an order to kill women and children?
If you give the example, I could comment.
God doesn't order someone to kill anyone unless there is a damn good reason for it.
example: Noahs flood - lots of women and children died in that flood, but they certainly were not innocents. There was a really important reason for that flood - it was probably one of the most essential "killings" of all time.

This is a favorite question for non-believers to ask, and it has become meaningless in the last 5 years in America.
We had savages in our country from March to September, 2001, whose sole purpose was mass murder of as many as they could get. We can easily justify hunting down and destroying the remaining sub-humans based on their contempt for human life.
Here, in your question, you're automatically assuming that the Canaanites were innocent bystanders ordered for execution by marauding, merciless Israelites, and it exposes your ignorance of history and your complete willingness to make intellectually bankrupt assumptions to prove a point. The inhabitants were repeatedly called "wretched" by several different groups in their writings from as early as 2200 BC until long after Israel had taken parts of the land.
The Bible gives some of the practices of these ethnic groups, including the sacrifice of their children on altars. They sound a lot like our terrorists today in their comtempt for life.
What do you think?

New Covenant for one. And in the OT, God is the one who had His hand on His army--He led them into battle against their enemies...so they were being led by Him, and it was all for HIS Glory- It was His righteousness being established. Of course we should not going killing people for the heck of it. There will always be wars though- and the Bible even says this. And I am defending the word of God. His ways are right, and in man's eyes, because of that curtain called pride over their eyes, they will never understand until it is removed.
Psalm 71:16
I will come and proclaim your mighty acts, O Sovereign LORD; I will proclaim your righteousness, yours alone.
Psalm 96:13
they will sing before the LORD, for he comes, he comes to judge the earth. He will judge the world in righteousness and the peoples in his truth.
Psalm 98:2
The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations.

According to some people God is still telling them to murder their children.
such a religion was formed during a time when man was more barbaric, it has no place in our society of today, and it has held back science for hundreds, nay thousands of years

It never says "thou shalt not kill"...it does say "thou shalt not murder". There's a huge difference between the two. And anyone who doesn't recognize that difference is morally bankrupt.

When ever God told the Jews to kill the people they invaded it was so those people wouldn't corrupt them to worshiping other gods.
That was the reason.

No christian could ever justify murder through the bible. Just because something is done in the name of christ does not mean christ is in it....
