A lot of people put a notice in with the obituary, saying something like, "Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been set up in the name of (survivor) at the local bank (name of bank)." However, instead of doing that, I'd recommend having the person cremated and the ashes scattered. That way, it's inexpensive, and good for the environment. The funeral companies try and take your money when you're in grief and they make it very expensive. Cremation is a lot less costly. If you want, you can also keep the urn with ashes in a special place, so you can visit the person without going to the cemetary, but I think scattering them is better.
I'm sorry if you've had a loss.
