no one "made" God. He was here first from the biggining of time. I know it is hard to explain to a child. but God always has been and always will be.

You may not get to my answer; there are so many !!
I sometimes turn to Native American Religious Tradition/Mythology because it talks about God coming out of the Great Mystery; it's really cool.
God IS a Mystery; encouraging her to hold to a belief about the Mysterious might be a good thing; and, that some questions "can't be answered bec. they are a Mystery." Confusing perhaps; but, what if we KNEW EVERYTHNG ??
Life would be dull.
But, God is a BIG ISSUE, esp. for kids. I'd look into the Native American Traditions; they talk about the Great Mystery -- which is not the Creator, or "Father Sky," and still have great respect for Nature and the Creator.

There are books out there that have answers to kid's most difficult questions - visit a book store and pick one up. As for the God question - no one made God - God is - maybe read the Bible with your daughter.

God has been around since the beginning of time. In the beginning was the word, and the word was God and the word was with God. God made all the other stuff. God tilted the earth at a 23.5 degree angle so that each hemisphere would have seasons. God made the earth spin on it's axis to ensure we would have 24 hours per day. That's a fact, Jack.

Human beings created the concept of God. Having a deity be responsible for all our sins is a convenience that keeps our consciences clear. This supreme being can also forgive us fo our sins so that we don't have remorseful feelings. History tells us that more human beings have been massacred in the name of religion than for any other reason. This is probably not what you want to tell your 8 year old daughter, but, unfortunately it's the naked truth.

God hasn't been "created." He was always there since the beginning and always will be. It is a mystery that even I would want to know but he wasn't "made" by anything or anyone.

I'm glad to see you post your daughter's question on here...My son has asked me the very same question about a year ago. Unfortunately I didn't know what to say either. I just told him I didn't know the answer but I think some people you just don't have to see them in order to believe in them, like God, Santa, The Tooth Fairy and so on...

one very tiny reason I'm a atheist today is because at age 10 in bible study at our catholic church the priest could not answer that question to me also, i only received a reply of " because he is the Creator and has been hear since the beginning of time" and not to question why he exist he just does............
when i continued to ask why i was given pen-nets for trying to cause troubled thoughts in bible class, as other children questioned also,
needless to say that was my last day going to church on my own choosing, as a child... except for my fathers funeral,,,
my mom allowed us to choose if we wanted to go to church on our own , it was never forced, as my mom never went.....and she was not religious,
for someone with my personality who even today is fascinated by almost every topic, i could not find justification in that answer, when i asked my mom, she explained to me truthfully that she did not know the answer and she felt its possible no one knows that answer, i respected that answer the best from my mom,
i then remember going to the library and the Liberian gave me a science book for my age group that explained about the solar system and evolution, it all boils down to belief and what you feel the path you want your child to take, one of knowledge or religion, neither path is right or wrong, do what you feel in your heart is right, posiiably taking her to a bible study class or a place where someone may be able to answer her, but always remember to be sure your child is getting the right answers especially at that age, let her see both sides of the issue, go to your local libary and get a bible book for children and also a science book, sit down together and discuss the issue, it also opens up communication between you and your child, a start that could last forever, i know for me and my mom still talk under the sun about everything because i know i was always taught to see two sides of every story...
GOOD LUCK
