The answer would have to be a resounding yes, of course! Why do you think so much controversy has been going on? Why have archaeologists endeavoured to search out artifacts, etc? Before my husband and I became christians, we questioned the bible - and were encouraged to do so! The answer always comes back to it being our very own Creator who wrote the bible, through ordinary mortals. You say that there is no real proof! But there is! Every day, something new is discovered that verifies what the bible says. As one of your other answers rightly says. Right now, prophecies are coming true. I know because I study the bible. May I ask if you have actually read the bible? Or understood it? At first, I found it very hard to get along with, but once I was shown - what beautiful perls of wisdom is in that book! I do find the bit about telling a young child something that isn't true, but them believing it, to be amusing. What about the existance of Father Christmas/santa clause? It can actually really traumatise a child once they find out the truth! When children grow, they are encouraged to search out facts for themselves; even the bible says this. Actually it is a fool that takes everything in without questioning it!! I agree that religions today do not encourage questions, which is so sad, but true religion does and should encourage questions, if they are following the bible. Just say for a moment that you are right that the bible was based on fairy stories. Now think of this: It is not racist; does not encourage wars; is not political, etc, do you not think that if we all worked with the bible, that it is actually the best way to live?!

Do you think the Bible is the only thing that was written a long time ago that is seen as accurate and accredited?
In comparison, we have only 643 manuscripts (copies and fragments) of Homer's Iliad, written about 900 BC, with the earliest extant copy dated 400 BC, 500 years later. Also, we have only ten copies of Julius Caesar's Gallic Wars, written 58 to 50 BC, with the earliest copy dated 900 A.D., a gap of almost 1,000 years, and only 21 copies or fragments of the works of Tacitus, written about 100 A.D., with the earliest copy or fragment dated 1000 A.D., a span of 900 years.
Some of the books in the New testament were written only 40 years later. So, how can you say the Bible is a Dupe when you believe the writings of Caesar and Homer etc?

First of all, I don't believe the Bible is outdated. Some moral standards for things don't change through time. I mean, it's wrong to kill in every generation. The Bible is very accurate in some parts. Take Job 26:7 "He spreads out the northern skies over empty space; he suspends the earth over nothing." Secondly, the Bible isn't just a rulebook. It has proverbs, psalms, history, and stories.

Should Democrats be cussed out for the problems THEY cause when following THEIR 30 year out-of-date playbook?
"Out of date" is a matter of opinion.

Why are you putting all the blame on christines. just because they follow a 2000 yr old book. what about muslims, they don't even know what their leader looks like. yet they follow a book written about muhammaed, 20 years after his death. what gives you the right to dis-respect their right to believe in what they do? what of yourself, what do you believe, and do others have a right to bad mouth your belief and put all the balme on yours?

Outdated references of all kinds have elements of truth to them. Myths have originated from actual events. The things we extrapolate from dinosaur bones are to some extent a matter of interpretation. Results of studies and experiments are limited in their accuracy by the prejudices of those who carry them out. In university and community college I've done experiments in physics, chemistry, physical chemistry, electronics, sociology...One teacher told us never to waste our time on things we already know. Why do you spend so much time trying to argue against the existence of God and the truth of the Bible? How much time to you spend denying the existence of Santa Claus?
