In the beginning of the Bible it says that god created man (in his image) to look and watch over the animals he has created.

You'd have to ask God, and as far as I can tell he's not keeping an account on Y! Answers.
Though the Christians (and many others) would have you believe that God created humans to worship him, I agree that this is pretty lame. Anyone who can create the universe and still feel the petty need to be adored by the masses simply can't be a perfect being. I think it's more likely that, if there is a purpose to us at all, it's so that God can experience the universe he has created. Ig God is in all of us, and one with all of us, than he wold experience the universe through our experiences, which he couldn't do directly, as he is (in theory, anyway) infinite in all ways and thus couldn't exist in a limited, finite level as we do and as would be necessary to experience this finite, limited universe we all live in.
Hope this helps.

First of all, you will not understand this until you believe that he exists....so, why ask the question, except to stir up animosity. Do you really seek an answer?? Man must realize that the Lord is God! It is He who made us -- we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Man must realize that he is also creature like the rest of God's creation. He must realize that he was created by the Lord the Creator of all things - - The Lord who created the heavens -- who formed and made the earth -- and made it firm and lasting. He did not make it a desolate waste, but a place where people to live.

This is an easy one. God created man for the same reason we have children. Someone to share His love with. Someone to care for and cherish. And God created us to love HIm. To worship Him and to learn from. It's as simple as that. What good is perfect love if there is no one to shower it on?

Well if I were a powerful deity, I'd eventually get bored and start making little animated things for my own amusement. Maybe see what happens if I leave them alone for a few million years. Though I'd have to make it look like it was all done on its own.

Praise God you're live in the first place. You're right are God is not in need of anything, but he loves to create. the life you're living right now isn't the life you were suppose to live, because we fell. God is coming again to give you a new life, but only if you give him your trashy life.

God desired self-expression and desired companionship; therefore, God projected the cosmos and souls.

For the same reason that people abuse puppies. They love to hear them cry knowing that there isn't anything they can do about it. Yet they still expect to be loved and adored for it. I certainly don't get it.

He created us so that we could be sent to earth, tested, and if we are good enough, become Gods like him.
