HDTV and my Dell Computer Monitor?

Question

So I brought a new Dell flatscreen 20" monitor that is compatible with HDTV.

I was thinking of connecting the monitor to my HDTV-ready cable box with a DVI cable so I can watch HD or other cable channels on my monitor.

My questions are:

1.) Do I still need a TV tuner card or equipment to make it work?

2.) If I hook up my monitor to my cable box..will the cable signal be on my monitor all the time? For instance, when I'l running other programs..will the cable signal interfere with them? My Dell monitor has Picture in Picture but does that mean the little tv screen will always be on, even when I dont want it to be?

3.) Will I still be able to watch cable tv on my normal tv, which is currently hooked up to the cable box?

1) No, your HDTV cable box is your tuner. You just need to switch the input of your monitor to the one connected to your digibox when you want to watch cable. Then switch back to your PC when you want to do computer stuff.

2) You can turn on/off the PiP whenever you feel like it, I imagine. Because the PC (VGA) and cable (HDMI) are separate inputs, they're isolated from each other, meaning you shouldn't have any problems of one signal bleeding onto the other. It's not like connecting your VCR between your cable box and TV via coax and having to get the TV/VCR switch correct and the TV on Channel 3 thing.

3) You will as long as you don't disconnect your cable box from your TV. Only drawback is that you can't watch two different cable programs on two different screens, but I'll bet that's not a big concern. For now.
