If this is true, then why don't atheists run around doing horrible things all the time? How about answering to yourself? Don't you think people would have a hard time answering to themselves if they did something wrong?

Just wondering how that works.

morals dont come from god.

if they did, we could justify running around killing people.

It's very easy as well as hard to answer to myself. I'm my own worst critic. I'm not worried about how I'm getting to heaven and therefore pretending to do whatever is required to make that happen. I am worried about the here and now and making my world a better place for myself as well as my neighbors.
That's a much tougher position to take, in my opinion.
Peace

I don't remember the last time I stuck myself in the corner for my bad behavior. One can convict oneself as much as they want and still go do it over and over again. Or even if it's a serious crime get punished in jail, but still not care about their crime. When we say you will have God to answer to, we mean exactly that. You will have to face God at some point. Personal regret or "feeling bad" about something you have done is not justice. It's just an emotion. But God is the switch on your rear end.

I'm an Atheist. God is dead, I was there when he died.

I'm not worried about answering to God, the police and American prison system are much more of a reality to me.

Atheists do go around doing horrible things, like taking God out of everything and mocking Him. And for the record, they will have to answer, they just don't realize it yet.

I am hearing all this stuff about conscience...yes! You hit the nail on the head, Atheists! GOD gave us a CONSCIENCE!

just because you don't believe in an afterlife doesn't mean that you start going crazy and killing everyone. there are benefits of living good and people can still care about others without believing in anything.

All humans, regardless of religious belief or lack thereof, are created in the image of God, and thus have his attributes to much lesser degree.

These include among other things love and justice.

Ever wonder where this Idea of righteousness comes from? God does sustain us and if he were to lift his hand chaos. Man's idea of righteousness is not equivalent to God's perfect righteousness.

Excellent question. They just can't seem to grasp that we have our own conscience to guide us not to mention LAWS.
