Hi - For several weeks now my refridgerator and more recently the freezer compartment as well has been intermittently giving off a really offensive smell. It kind of smells like old rubbish bags. I have emptied ALL food contents 3 times and have scrubbed it out to within an inch of it's existence. There has been no spillages inside the fridge and it is immaculately clean. I have also cleaned and disinfected the drain at the back. It is a fridge freezer that is fitted into a cupboard. (You know the sort, it looks like a cupboard but has the fridge inside). Any ideas welcome. I am becoming obsessive and the smell is putting me off eating

ok, clean seals, check the drain at the back of the fridge ( it's inside fridge ).

But from what you have said, it sounds more likely that its something you cannot get to without removing the fridge freezer from inside the cupboard.

It will take about 15-20 minutes to remove screws to get underneath and behind unit.

Once this has been done and you still have a smell then you know that it isn't the fridge causing it.

do a net search for kim & aggie - sure they'll come up with something.
Check the seals and if inside there is a little draining hole that mite have got blocked.
Check under, behind, on top of the cupboard too.

at the back of the fridge/freezer is a tray that catches water that defrosts from the inside (it will evaporate due to heat ) but that may need a clean !!! good luck

You need an engineer, I think that the cooling liquid that is pumped around the system behind the it is leaking.

hi,
ice cream freezing? mine was mushy, not good thing.

yes, I had problem, not odor.

is fan working in freezer area? mine wasn't, repair man, replaced fan, cost $35. made world of difference.
so what you could do, is listen for fan.
you probably unscrew cover, see if full of ice.
mine was. after we used blow dryer to unthaw ice around.
easy fix... good luck.
