Can someone please tell me about Papillons? How are they towards strangers and other dogs? Does it take a lot to groom them? Do they shed a lot?

I have had 2 papillions. They are great dogs. My one was pretty friendly to strangers and loved to play with other dogs. My other papillion hated strangers and would park at house guests until they left the house. He also did not like any other dog except my other Papillion. They do need to be brushed once a week, at least. They are furry little things! Yeah they shed but they are so small it is not that big of a deal. Unlike my Collie!
They do require lots of love and attention. Mine loved to be cuddled and petted and sit in my lap when I worked, watched t.v., etc.

I have a papillon. He is a great dog for country or city. Yes, he sheds. I would not recommend a papillon if you mind shedding. He loves bigger dogs & is scared of smaller dogs. He loves strangers to death! He's very "self cleaning" & I don't have to groom him much.

A lot of information can be found at www.akc.org. Also, much of a dog's attitude towards strangers and other animals depends on socialization. Make sure you keep your dog well socialized from the earliest possible time, and you will be fine. Papillons are sweet little dogs, so I hope you enjoy your new pet, when you get it.

Papillons dogs.... i have one,mine she will cuddle she'll bark at people(pets) that go by our house,it doesnt take alot to groom them they just need a bath about 4 times a month,and my pap,barely even sheds...she doesnt even shed at all

I have heard that they are pretty good with other people but can be very possessive of their owners. They are a little bit dog-aggressive but I know they are good with cats. They are average shedders, and you do have to brush and comb their hair every day so their hair does not matt or tangle. Brushing them is not that bad actually. I love Papillons!

one of the best dogs i have ever had was a papillon. amazing dog. i miss him so much. put him down a year ago, this week.
