This is my 1st boyfriend & I was afraid that he wasn't going to get me anything, & also we hardly get to see each other, & we won't get to see each other that day, & the very next morning, I'm going out of town for a week.

Not at all if he said nothing then you know he is not a good bf

Absolutely inappropriate and insulting.

It tells him that you're expecting something, which you shouldn't. That makes it feel like an obligation more than Valentine's Day already does; how much heart can you put into an event or activity that you're made to feel you HAVE to do?

Moreover, it would sound to me as if you're reminding him to get something for you as if he had forgotten (which, to be fair, he may well have). Makes it kind of like a chore ("When are you fixing the sink?").

He may have taken it as a hint that valentines day is coming up and that you expect something. You did fine, sometimes guys need a reminder. We forget stuff like that a lot.

Not inappropriate. Maybe a more subtle hint like....I can't wait to show you what I got you for Valentine's Day!! Then he will know he better be comin' up with the goods!!

Perhaps this is the reason you have only had one boyfriend. You never ask anyone if they are going to get you a gift for any holiday. It's rude and it makes you look materialistic. Perhaps you should just wait and be surprised. Thank you.
