Enlighten me.

The reason to buy new would be selection, and be the 1st one to drive the car. Other than that, used is a good alternative. Remember, as soon as you drive that new car off the lot, it's used! Best to lease new & buy used-and it mostly depends upon the buyer's needs and wants. If there is something you have to have, and are specific about optiions or colors, chances are you won't find it used. Also, some people are very picky-used will be used and may have small scratches or nicks or other imperfections.

I have worked at a dealership and a "certified pre-owned vehicle" only means that it was driven for a while, and when traded in, the dealership did a "21 point inspection" to ensure that everything is still in proper working order. These cars will often come with a warranty of some sort, but certified pre-owned doesnt mean that anything special has been done with them.

In short, it means that the car has only parts that it could have had from the factory, and that everything works within a reasonable specification. This means that the car could have been BEATEN on for however many years someone owned it, but none of the damage is visable to whatever mediocre dealership technician glanced over it...its just a "nice used car".

A new car is new. You know that no one has beat the car into the ground.

One of the foolish things consumers do is buying a certified vehicle thinking they're saving money. This is untrue since most new cars can be bought for around the same price as certified.

For example, my brother purchased a brand new Camry for $15,900 ($6k discount). Few months later I saw "certified" Camrys from a no-haggle dealer for the same price!!!!!!!!

Plus a unscrupulous dealer can claim any car as being "certified".... but they can't claim "new" unless it really is.

Just my opinion.
I've NEVER bought a used car.

However, buying a new car probably gives people a faulse sense of importance to make up for their shortcomings.

the warranty is the only meaningful item.
