I hear on a regular basic a religious person saying how God talks them, how he presents himself to them. This is all good, but when you look at the people who are saying this, they are almost always normal people in normal circumstances. High School students, college students, not exactly people struggling if you know what I mean. What about all the people suffering from clinical depression, let me tell you, I've suffered through clinical depression, and I can speak for most when I say that most people who have been as low as I have and felt what I have have asked for help, any kind of help, even if they were Atheists.

Regardless, most of these people don't get any help, and 30% of the people who suffer from clinical depression in their lifetime attempt suicide, and 15% are succesful. Only 15% of the population struggles from clinical depression in their lifetime, why can't God present himself to these people, these are the people who need it, don't you think?

No Malcomn, it just so happens many people aren't raised in religion. Many people are raised in abusive, drug infested households. There is pain out there that you could not even imagine, far beyond monetary suffering. I've lived both, and let me tell you, it doesn't compare.

About what I expected really, most people will never understand.

You think a person who is clinically depressed, a condition of the brain, is not sincere. This goes far beyond 'problems,' most people can never imagine the pain these people feel. Both physically and psychologically.

Truly is sad.

Wrong, one never 'recovers' from clinical depression, only goes into remission, brain chemistry is changed, risk of relapse is always great.

Purple, I don't think you understand the chemical side of clinical depression. These individuals are not fully in control of their thoughts and actions.

God is not a respecter of persons the God that revealed himself to me is available to every person ever born. This is the secret if it is a secret. Those who love the truth will seek it. Those who seek the truth will receive a gift and this gift is faith and through faith comes revelation.

I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I can tell you one thing (and I think someone just pointed to that fact)... You were going to the wrong sources for healing.
First, let me make this clear, MAN is faulty and limited. We can only do so much. Christians are still human. We still have our moment of weakness. The people that told you spoke to God may have. But that doesn't mean God shows himself only to those "well off." Those same people that speak to God still have shortcomings. They just recognize them and trust God to forgive and lead them.
I say that to say this; You should be going directly to God. Prayer is the key. Clinically Depressed? Heavy Prayer is recommended. I've been depressed to a point, and I didn't trust anyone to share it with. I had a run-in with God, and (over time) I was released from that demon.
Man, depression literally sucks the life out of you. You'll be blessed if you go to God. Learn about Jesus and the things he went through, first.

Take care and God bless.

hi!

I have gone through clinical depression. I have recovered now though i cannot say that iam 100% healthy. And one of the reasons of my recovery is God.

Whether u believe in God or not, u need to be honest to yourself and others. Some Atheists, Agnostics and normal people do this and that is why God helps them even when they do not worship.

God Bless You.

Biblically, God has been know to reveal himself to unbelievers and those you would last expect. I'm guessing it is interpretation here that is getting in the way. One can say God is speaking to them THROUGH something, meaning He's not actually calling that person out like some of the historical figures.

Good question for humans, but I'd say God is revealing himself....some just don't like to listen.

I think God does present Himself to all people whether they are in need or not. The funny thing with people is that sometimes we just don't see or hear Him. We get so rapped up in ourselves and our own problems that we don't even look or listen. I know because I have been there. "What about me? Poor me." That is all we can think about.

We have to change our focus. It is not about what God can do for us. He has all ready done everything He needs to do for us. We just have to be willing to accept Him with blind faith, trust in Him completely and let Him lead the way.

nicely you have of course believed lies of ways long people have been around try looking into some suggestion that has information to help it. And in case you think of radiological relationship is information seem at regulations of information an then take a seem at their concept and relationship and dont say 2+2=4 for there is not any longer sufficient information amassed to tutor any proposed 0.5 existence purely somebody needed extra money so solved 2X+Y via putting fictitious information in for X and persons believed him reason he had degree.

Whenever people talk about "most" of any group, they are talking out of turn. (a)You cannot know what % of clinically depressed people do not kill themselves because of their faith. (b) You cannot know what % of them have rejected God already. These generalizations do no one any good.

For the atheist at the top, who wants to know why God does not reveal Himself to atheists, HE DOES! I recommend you to a bookstore or libary, where you will find the personal histories of just such people. They're now called believers. One example, who writes particularly well, is C. S. Lewis, former atheist.

I have wondered this for a very long time. Several people have stated that God does reveal himself to everyone and we just don't listen. I don't believe that. I have been in situations where I needed God to reveal himself to me and I had my eyes and ears wide open and was still left to deal with it on my own. My conclusion is when you need God don't count on him because he won't be there. Be self reliant and self dependant and you will be better off than looking for someone who is supposed to be all powerful and does not seem to care when we need him. Do for yourself because we all know deep down that God will not help those who really need the help. Instead he will help those that don't need the help.

Good question. But God does reveal himself, to everyone! Look at the stars, GOD. Look at pain, GOD. He's always trying to draw us to Him, only we turn away. He calls out to depressed people! Also, God doesn't smack people in the face when people say that God is speaking to them. I know when God speaks to me but that's only because I've learned to hear his voice, plus I've been studying scripture so I know what God thinks. He calls out to people in pain all the time. That's how he first called out to me. "Hey, are you tired of living this way?" do you really want to go back to having sex with girls besides a wife?"

God talks to everyone but some people don't listen. That would be depressing in itself. The depression comes from trying to be perfect and not accepting your need for a savior.
