I use a bottle of good old Italian dressing. Marinate it overnight. It gives grilled meat a fantastic flavor.

Actually I prefer Dry rubs they impart more flavor in less time and are really easy to make and store.
Try this one from Allrecipes.com
Hugh's Dry Rub
INGREDIENTS
1/2 cup paprika
3 tablespoons cayenne pepper
5 tablespoons freshly ground black pepper
6 tablespoons garlic powder
3 tablespoons onion powder
6 tablespoons salt
2 1/2 tablespoons dried oregano
2 1/2 tablespoons dried thyme
DIRECTIONS
In a medium bowl, combine the paprika, cayenne pepper, ground black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, oregano, and thyme. Mix well, and store in a cool, dry place in an airtight container.

There are at least a dozen more but I have found that a dry rub is just the ticket for a tough cut like London broil or rump roast to tenderize and deeply flavor. Good Luck!

I'm with the folks rooting for the Italian Salad Dressing marinade. If you want to make your own though, consider lemon juice, soy sauce, fresh garlic, olive oil, and a little worcestershire. Throw in some fresh rosemary and/or oregano or basil for added zing.

Jack Daniels marinade is great on steaks, chicken or pork. Pretty simple to use. You can buy it at pretty much any grocery store or make your own. The store bought is non alcoholic.

1/4c. jack daniels whiskey
1/4c. molasses
1/4c. apple cider vinegar
1 tbsp. lemon juice
1tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1 tbsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. pepper
1/2 tsp. dry mustard
1 clove garlic, crushed

Combine in saucepan. Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer 10 minutes.

"best" is subjective...you may hate what I like, but one of my faves (like the first suggestion posted) is Italian salad dressing. It's a great marinade for beef, pork, or chicken...and it's easy (just pour it out of the bottle).
