What do you think?

I read somewhere recently that Darkness and nothingness in the form of a Void existed before God made light...

(for those of you who don't believe in God... This is not the place to argue it, so lets just say hypothetically for you guys.) Stay on track and answer accordingly...

Was God evil before He became Good if He always was and always will be?

Was becoming a benevolent loving light filled creature a choice He made?

Was God evil before He decided to become Balanced with the addition of light, color, heat energy and spectrum?

and considering... Is evil (or darkness) older than good (or light)?

Still waiting on that rabbi...

Darkness is indeed referred to as what it is to be evil and Christ or good compared to light. And yes... both are referred to as each of these things in the original text and in their original languages. Greek and Hebrew.

I can't believe no one has noticed where I am going with this yet?

The use of "darkness" in reference to evil is a metaphor. It is not a concrete definition like some people like to spin it. Nighttime is not evil. We all speak in metaphor every single day. When it's a metaphor, it's obvious through context. When it means actual darkness as opposed to light, it's obvious through context. If you want to get more indepth on this subject, study the original words in the original language.

God was never evil. He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

There is no substitute for actually reading Scripture for yourself. Don't let semantic arguments get in the way of understanding.

Also, keep in mind that God is not in time. He created time. As linear beings existing in time, we cannot comprehend this. So don't think of it as "dark being older than light." Before time (which in itself is an oxymoron, but you know what I mean), there was only God. He is the same now as He was then.

I think you got a partial explanation here, darkness is not evil, just lack of light... Nothingness is just what it implies, nothing, no good or evil, no choice, everything even and centered.. with choice, and good, there HAS to be an evil, because if not, what is it good in comparison to. Good and evil are required for there to be choice, as is variety... When everything is even, within our ability to comprehend, its nothing. This is why absolute zero is impossible for humanity to truly comprehend.

The jews do not believe that darkness is equal to evil. That's a christian (originating in Greek mythos) belief.

Black represents feminine, creative energies in judaism and other belief systems. It does not represent evil.

the darkness doesn't mean evil. it just means there was no divine spark of creation. the darkness is just profound nothingness, and nothingness can't be good or evil since it is by definition the *lack* of existence, and something that doesn't exist can't have properties.
