If drowsiness is a side-effect, then you may stay spaced out. On Prozac, I felt spaced out often, but I was that way before. I could not feel normal when I took the recommended dose of 20mg everyday. On 20mg every two or three days, I felt more normal (less anxious and less depressed). Make sure that you work with your doctor to adjust your presciption if necessary. Too much or too little can cause you to not feel normal emotions. Anti d's work differently depending on the person. Most people get better after they find the right medication and the right dosage.

the spaced out feeling is because you are probably producing more serotonin than usual (the neurotransmitter that makes you calm and/ortired) and one theroy is that too much gives you that out of touch with reality feeling. Don't forget for many anti depressants it takes a while to get into your system and they are not designed to make you feel happy just put you on an even keel.
Try taking up jogging (seriously) it is one of the best things you can do for depression but too may people /therapists ignore it.

One of the benefits to anti depressants is that they bring back your emotions. However, this is often where people begin to feel they're not helping, as when difficult emotions start to arise they have trouble dealing with them. But certainly you'll feel more alive again and have more energy to deal with things that might be causing your depression. Best of luck!

Believe it or not.... YES..... Once you start the meds... You MIGHT feel more anxious... but it is necessary at remain on the meds, regardless of how you are feeling..... The dizziness and other feelings is your body/brian adjusting to the seritonin levels raising.... most of the time what brings on anxeity, panic attacks and what follows.. is a lack of seritonion in the brain... Once you remain on the meds. your levels will adjust and you will begin to feel "human" again. Consult with your prescribing doctor, as dosage strengths may need to be adjusted on how you are feeling or any break thrus. You might not notice any difference right off... it takes about 2 weeks for your body to adjust.. so be patient.....

I would say it was the opposite.

Anti depressants take away your emotions,I was off them for 6 months and realised I'd started having feelings again eg upset about sad stories in the papers or on the news, feelings of joy if anything nice happened,I realised I hadn't had them for years while I was on the tablets,I was sort of numb.

I have been on them for years. They work with the chemicals in your brain, stabilizing them. This definately helps you focus better because they get you out of that funk. Your regular emotions aren't necessarily changed, you just have more control over them.
