I'm a New Orleans native who just moved to Brooklyn, NY, but I'm going back home to New Orleans (my forever hometown) to visit family & pick up some of my belongings & then leave the day after Ash Wednesday. I really don't plan to do anything special. I'd like to go to Endymion parade, though.

We (that would be me, my husband, and our mothers) are heading down next weekend. We plan to eat at La Peniche, Mona Lisa's, Cafe du Monde, possibly Coop's Place and/or Angeli's; there will be extensive pillaging of used bookstores, gonna buy a couple of masks from Jim and Conway at New Orleans Madness Masks. We only plan to go to Iris and Tucks (on St. Charles by Lee Circle). For us, this year is the year of BACCHUS BALL!! Our friend in NOLA ended up with 2 extra tickets and invited my husband and me, so we've had to rush around and get tuxedo measurements, a new formal...we're preetty excited. We have to drive back on Fat Tuesday, though. :-(

My wife is a High School Band Director. We will attend four parades this year. The first was last night. Cleopatra rolled about 15 mins. late...not bad. Tomorrow we will march Alla. They have extended the route to over 8 miles! Murderous on those drummers. Next Wed and Thurs we will march Babylon, and Morpheus uptown. That is it. On Fat Tuesday we will sleep in.

We live 3 blocks off St. Charles, so we have the best house to be at during MG! We have friends over, we eat, we drink, we walk up to the parades, we visit with friends and neighbors. It's a great time to be in NOLA!
