Nope, it was one of the apostles. Don't pin me down here but I think Paul. He had a dream where a banquet was prepared with all the foods of the earth. Something along those lines.

It may have been a practical change to make it easier to convert the non-jews into christianity. As I understand it, there was a lot of discussions, in the early church, about whether or not non jews could even become Christians.

Jesus and back in the old testament many of the laws God made were for health and sanitation reasons. you figure they had no refridgeration and were in a hot climate and knew nothing about preserving food with salt or anything.
