No they went to paradise and were taken care of there until Christ opened the doors to heaven....this can be made most evident when christ tells the thief that dies next to him that he will be with him this day in paradise, pradise is also described many times in the OT. They were saved by their righteousness and reverance to God

Of course they did. There are many ancient religions and they all had some version of heaven. Jesus was by no means the first (or only) man to teach people about God. If you read anything of the older religions the basic message is virtually identical.

Through close walk with God. The example is Enoch. He was taken to God without meeting death. So it is God's grace for anyone He chose but when Jesus came, the grace is open to all who believe in Christ Jesus as God's Son and Savior.

He went to preach to the captives, captive. In other words He went into the lower parts of the earth to preach to all those that died before HE came onto the scene and led the many out.
He did this after HIS death on the cross.

Remember that Jesus is God and God is eternal. Therefore Jesus is eternal and everything He does has an eternal element, including salvation.

When your soul exits the flesh it leaves time and enters eternity where the eternal Lord waits to give you salvation, provided you want it, that is. You can say, in effect, "Hell no. I won't go."

they had to believe the prophets God sent,isaiah,joel,malachi,jeramiah,and so on and on,and they needed to stop sinning against God
