Check with the venue where you are having your wedding....a lot of restaurants have old centerpieces or vases lying around that they dont offer u p....but they will help you and allow you to use them (or rent them with a deposit they return to you) if you tell them your situation. I had a girlfriend who planted flowers into bread baskets she bought on clearace (lined the small baskets with plastic bags and filled with potting soil....she had to spend weeks putting the little plants in/out/in/out of the house because they had to be planted early in the spring but when they blossomed they were gorgeous....she chose pansys which pretty much are full of color and grow like weeds----seeds and all was under $30 for over 100 of them...but a lot of maintenance. find out if there is a wedding just before yours....you might be able to recycle or reuse something from that bride free (or again, cheap). I recently went to a wedding where they had books on the tables stacked different heights and covered with colored table linens that matched the wedding colors....on top of each was a small silver tin saucer (could have been mc-donalds ashtrays small) with a candle.... then they spread flower pedals and glitter across the linens...it really was cute. they just did thank you scrolls (printed on fine paper and tied with a ribbon, which looked cute on the tables....finally each table had a different 8X10 photo of someone's wedding at the center of it...it made a great conversaton starter and was fun. find out which fresh flowers are in season during your wedding....you may be able to get them in bulk cheap from the local florist or even one of those tops markets type places if you order ahead.... I have seen plastic spoons wrapped in tulle with a couple of hershey's kisses and a clever little tag something about a spoonful of kisses to say thanks for sharing our day.... myself I like pull apart centerpieces....where you make something that literally comes apart so that each guest at the table takes say a carnation with a note, or a container with a note from the center...it can be quite dramatic stacked up in the middle and there's no clean up cause everyone takes it home..... have fun....and good luck

Find a centerpiece that you like online or in a magazine. Get a picture of it and then search craft stores/discount store, sales and clearances for items that you can use to make the centerpiece yourself.

As for favors, have you thought about doing a candy buffet. I love this idea. Get tons of candy in your wedding colors and then find cute, yet decorative bags/boxes for your guests to put the candy in. Edible favors will always be a hit, and they will less likely to get left behind. Money is just wasted when people don't take the favors. Candy can be bought for very cheap in bulk.

Paper bells are usually fairly cheep and available in many diffferent colors. How about photos of the bride and groom like when you were dating ? How about just a few flowers, and two candels on the side of the main able and a samll centerpiece for each table. You can get small arrangemnts for under 30 dollars at some smlall florists.? or last but not least two long stem roses one crossed over the other with a simple white ribbon aroung them in a bow. Like your favortie colors? Good Luck Here are just a couple of links I found

For a Summer Wedding - Fruit is very affordable and looks great paired with some inexpensive flowers...think of a bowl of limes and some brightly colored fuscia gerber daisy you can build the bowl up with the limes and place the gerbers sparatically to fill spaces and brign color to the arrangement.

Fall wedding, carve different size and colored pumpkins with designs such as scroll work, fleurdelis, elegant designs and group them together on the table filled with tealights

Winter - Willow branches from you local craft store with lights weaved through it, you can wrap it loosely with tulle to difuse the light to a soft glow then hang simple glass ornaments that you can get very cheaply at say target or walmart

Spring - the fruit idea can work for this as well as getting topary foam from a craft store, pin pices of ivy to it and place small spray roses sparatically on the topiary, put in a simple terracotta pot

All this can be done very cheaply by doing it your self and having a few freinds to help. Good luck

For a cheap centrepiece why not buy a goldfish bowl and put some faux flowers or floating candles inside

You can pick up cheap candles at Ikea

Also - what about sparklers? These ones look gorgeous and make a different kind of 'toast'

An idea for favors is putting candy into a sheer bag, you can buy them on theknot.com or weddingchannel.com, to save money if you are crafty make them yourself by buying the material. for your centerpieces use what is available in nature depend on the season or if you have over a year look off season for decoration or even hit a dollar store

Centerpieces can be anything... flowers, vases, candles...... check out Marshall, Pier import sales, Oriental trading.com, lots of easy stuff out there.

For favors- Candy, candles.... Don't do CD- it's illegal and most people don't like the same music- can't tell you how many I threw out.

I got my favors on eBay- $1.00 piece and they are really sweet. two little pear candles in a bag and they have a tag that reads the "Perfect Pair".

For our wedding we had hurricane glasses with taper candles on round mirror tiles, surrounding by votive candles and rose petals. The centerpieces were inexpensive, yet nice looking. You could also use any type of bowl with floating roses, petals and candles. Here's a website that has great ideas: http://centerofattentiononline.com/_wsn/page2.html

depends on when and where the wedding is!
one of my friends had a winter wedding, and used colored glass ornaments in tall glass vases as centerpieces.
another friend painted ceramic pots and planted spring flowers in them as her centerpieces (summer wedding), and then there's always the option of tea lights and mirrors....go to Hobby Lobby or a craft store- they have tons of stuff for cheap.

for favors...my nephew and his bride took netting (different colors that went with the wedding colors) cut them into squares then put 2-3 flower bulbs in them and tied with a ribbon....they were perfect and what a clever idea! I have flowers from those bulbs that come up every Spring now.....and always think of them!
