is microsoft word 2000 files compatible with microsoft word 2003 files?

Yes. However, Word 2007's files that end with .docx are not compatable. Microsoft says that 2003 and older will be able to READ, but must convert to their format (.doc) to edit.

Any files made with Word 2000 can be read by Word 2003, but if making file in 2003 to be read by Word 2000, when saving file use the option to save as Word 2000 format

You can use older files with newer versions of Word (such as opening a Word 2000 file in Word 2003 program). But you may lose some of the newer features or formatting if you attempt to open a newer file with an older version of Word (such as opeing a Word 2003 file in the Word 2000 program).

"This is the new upcoming format for Microsoft Office documents. It is a combination of XML architecture and ZIP compression for size reduction. Microsoft promises the format will be open (published for anyone to use) and prior versions of Office, using components provided by Microsoft for Office 2000, XP, and 2003 will be available to perform document conversion. i be attentive to be conscious/place of work 2003 has a Microsoft help module to open 2007 records, yet no longer version 2000. on your college laptop, whilst saving, choose save-AS and save it in be conscious 2000 format, this might make the checklist transportable adequate on your place laptop
