Members of LDS church receive "callings" Almost everyone has one, and they last between a few months to a few years, and then you'll get a different one. For example, right now I'm on the activities committee, a few months ago I was a children's class teacher.

Okay with that basis a ward missionary is a calling that is given to a few members of each ward (or congregation) and their "job" is to assist the full-time missionaries (you know the ones with the suites and badges) however they can. A lot of times that means going along and teaching lessons with them, and teaching a Sunday school class called "Gospel Essentials" for new members and investigators which teaches the basic doctrines of our church.

A Ward Missionary is someone who works only within the boundaries of their ward to do missionary work. A Stake Missionary is someone who does missionary work within the boundaries of their stake. They help out the full-time missionaries when needed. Full-time Missionaries do missionary work within an "area" where they are assigned.
