Chocolate Covered Strawberries

INGREDIENTS:
16 ounces milk chocolate chips
2 tablespoons shortening
1 pound fresh strawberries with leaves
DIRECTIONS
Insert toothpicks into the tops of the strawberries.
In a double boiler, melt the chocolate and shortening, stirring occasionally until smooth. Holding them by the toothpicks, dip the strawberries into the chocolate mixture.
Turn the strawberries upside down and insert the toothpick into styrofoam for the chocolate to cool.

Easy to make - place good quality semi-sweet chocolate (chips or chopped up a bit) in metal bowl which fits well on a saucepan with an inch of water in it - place on med heat and stir till melted and smooth. Remove bowl from pan (be careful not the let the steam get near the chocolate or it will seize up - if that happens stir some butter or heavy cream into it just till it smooths out).
Allow it to cool a bit and dip the fruit into the chocolate, place on wax paper and cool completely.

Also try bananas, peaches, pound cake, apples and nextarines (blot very juicy fruit off a bit)

Then bring some to me !!!!

I would suggest buying a pre made chocolate dip (usually found in the produce section) heat it up in the microwave and then dip your fruit and lay it on a baking sheet or something with wax paper lining and then put it in the fridge to harden.

Dipping different types of fruits is a personal preference you can do cherrys, pineapple, anything you set your mind to and like can be covered in chocolate

Use the chocolate almond bark, it melts better than chocolate chips and solidifies at a lower temp. Melt it in the microwave. Stick a toothpick in the strawberry to dip it so your fingers don't get messy. Unless you're making the strawberries with your valentine, in which case the chocolatey fingers could be good...

Melt a cup of chocolate chips in the microwave with 2T of milk. Dip the strawberries in it and put them to cool on waxed paper.
You can use banana chuncks and marshmallows too.

there is dipping chocolate sold on the baking isle at the grocery store. it's in a small read container that looks like those lunch size soup bowls from cambells. you warm it up in the microwave per the instructions on teh back and then dip whatever you want to in it. after you've dipped the strawberries, lay them on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and put them in the fridge. leave them in fridge until ready to serve.
