Scripture is clear that after death comes the grave, which is like a long sleep, and then the resurrection.- Either to life, or, 1000 yrs later, to be consumed in the lake of fire that purifies the earth to prepare it for being made over. I'm a bible believer. There is no denomination that folllows Scripture, so I'm sort of on my own.

Currently I do not hold a "religious title," so I will just call myself a Spiritual Truth Seeker!
To me, death should be something we all seek! Let me explain...
I don't mean to say that we should be "wanting to die," but rather, we should see death as a mere stepping stone to a new way of living; as birth was also a stepping stone into a new way of living.
As far as "life after death" or the idea of "heaven," I believe that it is wholly personal.
My wife took a Death course in college where they studied the rituals and ideas of death of many cultures. She continued to tell me that one day the teacher was explaining what an ancient indian tribe believed was to happen after death. Their belief was that they would hunt deer in a beutiful field the rest of their time (after death).
Then, when the teacher asked the class what they thought of this, a christian woman stood up and attacked that idea, saying that this idea was NOT what heaven was. She then went on to explain HER version of heaven as if IT was the correct version.
My wife then butted into the conversation and made this statement. "Heaven is a personal place where you become one with your own internal idea and belief of it. To me, heaven is nothing more than your best beautiful dream, lived fully and eternally."
So, my answer to your question is... What do YOU think happens after death? No one can asnwer that question for you, it is only what you believe and have faith in. =)

First, an angel takes your soul from your body. We then go to a place called "barzak" (in Arabic), which is the life of the grave. Depending on what kind of person we were in life, it can either be a painful torment, or peaceful.
Then, eventually, the big day will come when one of the angels blows the trumpet (he has the trumpet in his mouth already, waiting for the command to blow it), and every living thing on earth will die and the earth will shake with it's final earthquake (a major one!).
We will then each be judged, for what we did in this life. Everything that we're doing in this life is being recorded in a clear record. This "day" of judgement will last a very, very long time. Those of us that God is pleased with, will be under His shade. The others will be very hot and thirsty, depending on how bad they were.
There will be some kind of path that we all have to go on. The dwellers of the hell-fire will slip off and fall into the fierce, blazing fire. Others will go on their way to paradise, where they will live an extremely pleasant life.
The Holy Qur'an gives more detailed explanations of this, and so do authentic sayings of the last prophet, Muhammad (peace be upon him).

I believe, that we, as a spirit, moves out of the body. And at that moment, what ever we believe , is experienced. So if someone believes there is nothing, they will see only darkness, untill they get tired of it, and finally move on to a spirit welm.
I think that there are trillions of spirit levels. Places where spirits go, depending on there beliefs. And the level reflects what they believe.
So if they believe in a hell, they will go there.
If they believe in a Heaven, they shall arrive to one.
I think that , we can choose to create our own heaven in which ever way we choose for it to look and be like.
The spirit welm , is the Ultimate creative thought energy. Surrounding everywhere , with an energy that is manipulated by a thought.
The energy surrounding an individual spirit, will manifest itself into which ever form, that is picked up by the thought wave from that individual.
Also, spirits can see and visit each other.
Re-encarnation does happen, but Only if the spirit wants it to.
Personally, being alive in the physical plain, is so exhausting and painfull emotionally. Even though I shall endure it for as long as I am suppose to, I certainly look forward to leaving and going Home .
Real Home , is in the spirit world, at Rest, where my true lady soulmate is no doubt.

My own study of the Bible has convinced me that our souls or spirits go immediately into the presence of God when we die if we know Christ. The Apostle Paul wrote that those of us who are Christians "would prefer to be away from the body and at home with the Lord" (2 Corinthians 5:8).
Although the Bible doesn't answer all our questions about life after death, it clearly tells us that we can look forward to heaven's joys when we die, if we know Christ. Shortly before His death and resurrection, Jesus told His disciples, "I am going there to prepare a place for you ... that you also may be where I am" (John 14:2-3). The Bible also says, "For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 6:23).
The most important truth I can tell you about heaven, however, is that we will be with God, and nothing evil or harmful will ever touch us again. In heaven, God "will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away" (Revelation 21:4). Why would anyone not want to go there?
All this is possible because Jesus Christ took upon Himself the death and judgment we deserve when He died on the cross for us. And by rising from the dead, He showed that He has conquered death and Hell and Satan forever. Is your faith and trust in Him for your salvation? If not, commit your life to Him today.

Dear Frog,
If you have been saved by the Lord Jesus Christ, after death you will immediately be in the presence of the Lord (heaven). If you have not been regenerated (born-again; saved), your body will be placed in the grave but you will go to a place of silence. On the last day (when Christ physically returns), you will be resurrected to stand for trial before Christ. Unfortunately, you will be found guilty of breaking God's law and cast into the lake of fire-this is eternal damnation.
On that same last day, the saved who have died will return with Christ and will receive their glorified spiritual bodies. Those who are still alive when Christ returns, will immediately receive their glorified spiritual bodies and will be caught up to meet Him with the other saints in the air. The present earth and universe will be destroyed by fire and the LORD will create a new heaven and a new earth where He will dwell with His elect (saved).

I think we just move on to another stage of life. It should be on the same level of being born we all have to do it sometime. I always use a mosquito metiphore. First the larva is in the water then it develops wings and flies away from the water to begin a new life. Just think of us all as larva in the water and one day we grow and fly away. You can also use a cattapiller meteophore it's a lot prettier to think of.

There is no evidence of any kind that *anything* "happens" after death. Your mind and personality are physical things that reside in your brain -- when the physical brain is dead, so are the memories, thoughts, and personality that make up "you." When you're dead, you're gone -- and nothing in the entire history of humanity (other than superstitions and wishful thinking) has ever shown otherwise.
No religion -- I live my life by reason and intellect, not superstition and myth :)

It depends.
Are you married and do you have a million dollar life insurance policy on you.
In which case what happens when you die is that your wife will finally feel free and will party her a s s off spending the money celebrating and getting banged by a bunch of young attractive studs unlike her former husband. lol
