Advocacy and Corruption in the Healing Professions

Robert Jay Lifton

In looking at the professions one does well, I think, to hold to the old religious distinction between the ministerial and the prophetic. One should not assume, as many do, a simple polarity in which the sciences are inherently radical or revolutionary and the healing professions intrinsically conservative. The professions must minister to people, take care of them, and that is a relatively conservative process. But there are prophets who emerge from the healing ministrations of the professions—Freud is a notable example—with radical critiques and revolutionary messages. Moreover, even 'pure scientists' (in biology or physics, for example) spend most of their time ministering to the existing paradigm, doing what Thomas Kuhn (1962) calls 'normal science,' and strongly resist the breakthrough that is inevitably charted by the prophets among them. There are ministerial and prophetic elements in both the healing professions and the sciences.

But one must also di

since corruption originates in the minds of man, & it is only man who is affected, thus it is man only who has to seek for its remedy. And it is the cause which needs to be destroyed. so the instant remedy to it is, first of all is that everybody should listen to his/her conscience. Never do anything which kills the conscience, irrespective of the consequences. Then never bear anything wrong. And finally support the person who revolts against injustice & never wait for your part to come. The blunder we make is that we wait for a SUPERHERO to come or only govt. to perform. BE A SUPERHERO!! Then the is not far when we will breath in a corrupt free air... a dream which delightens everyone!!!!

The answer two this question has many sides to it. One, is that people are inherently greedy. Look at the rich and look at the poor who want to steal from the rich by voting for liberals who will tax them and give it to the poor. Greed is everywhere. Look at your local government. I bet you your next paycheck that I can come to your community and look at your school district, your city and your county and find corruption in at least one of them within the past 5 years.

We know it exists. When we hear about it, we should first shed light on it. Then ask for committment to punish the offenders. From citizens. Forget what your leaders have to say on anything. What do the people want? When enough people stand together the so-called leaders will act in their favor.

Do you realize how incredibly low voter turnout is for school and municipal elections? And you only need half of that, at most, to win! If you're unwilling to put your time where your mouth is and stand up for yourself in your local community then why whine about it? If you will fail to take action locally then how can you expect anything to happen in State or Federal government or in Corporations?

Now is the time to take action. Hesitation allows your opponent to make the next move. President Kennedy's words of wisdom "ask not what your country can do for you but what you can do for your country" would do well to be written on post-it notes reminding each citizen to take some action each day to make our communities and our society a better place.

Instant? No.

But repealing the Seventeenth Amendment would cut federal corruption, waste, and overreaching, but the effects wouldn't start for at least four years, maybe six.

That's a long time, but nothing else is going to work at all.

We follow in lines of Late P M Lal Bahadur Shastri jee's formula to overcome food shortage. He appealed to fast once a week. The country followed (reasons ranged from 'genuine followers' to showing 'party allegiance' to 'health' to an 'opportunity to save' and many more) and the idea worked.
Here's the formula:-
Year one- We all pledge to not to accept/give bribe to any one on one perticular day of the year. this day will be planned and be decleared to be NO bribe day for the nation.
Year Two-Same as above except that the day now chosen is a perticular date of all twelve months (Twelve days of 'no corruption' in the year)
year three-same as above .this time it is one day of the week.(fifty two days of no corruption in a year!!!!)
year four- can we say no to two days a week !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Year five- I think 'no coprruption' will become a habit with most & any hardcore still left with the habit will run away from the office(reasons could be the same as in para at the begining

Nationalise entire property of the country. No transaction other than newly introduced tokens. In this way, can dig out the hidden savings and add on to the national property. Any government will take this step?

Know your rights and use your rights. Many Americans don't know their rights and a lot sure as hell don't use them. Also, being able to identify corruption.

P.S. Also, don't allow foreign countries to invest in the U.S. and don't allow citizens of the U.S. to invest in foreign countries. This would take forever to fix since we have been doing this for so long. Basically, it would prevent corruption from the outside spreading into the U.S..
