My dog seems to have a natural aroma resembling Fritos corn chips. Sometimes the smell is stronger than other, especially if he has been wearing some of the clothes my wife buys him. I know dogs don't sweat, but what would make this smell?

Haha, that's funny that you say that.... my dog smells like corn chips, too. Dogs have a natural body odor, especially due to the oil that they produce (in hunting breeds, like beagles and labs, this oil helps to water proof the hair) that smells like fritos for some reason. It's no big deal, if the smell bothers you, just give him a bath. Too much bathing, though, will make him smellier by causing his skin to overproduce oil, or go the other direction and make his skin flaky.

Dogs have scent glands in their feet which give them the Frito-feet odor. Sometimes the smell permeates the whole dog.

Your pee smells funny when you eat broccoli. You smell funny when you eat garlic. Same principle here. Check the ingredients on the dog food bag. It's probably made with a lot of corn.

If it is anything like my Basset Hound it is the "hound odor".
I have been told hounds have an odor about them.
Mine certainly does.
She only stays fresh after a bath for about 2 days then stinks again.
