Jesus was not speaking about greek hebrew etc. We know what Jesus said. What did Jesus mean???

JN 8:42 Jesus said to them, "If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me. 43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father's desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don't you believe me? 47 He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God."

Thankyou Buck. I can read and translate the Bible(Word of GOD in many languages.) I know the answers but am trying to stir people to understand the meaning of Jesus' Words not just what He said or the context.

He meant that those who know him understnad who he is and those that do not know God do not know him. Simply calling yourself a Son of Abraham does not make you an heir to the promise those that know God belong to him and those that do not recognize the Son of God do not know him because they follow their Father the liar who is Satan. To know the Father is to know the Son they are one thsoe who do not know Jesus is the Son of God are deceived by the devil. Father Son and Holy Spirit are one God. The son of God came to the world to join back sinful man with God through the atonement. Jesus taught that the only way to the Father was through the Son he is the atonement that reunites a sinful man with his righteous creator.

Tribble Macher,
I don't know how deep you have studied. In a nutshell, Christ was talking to the progeny of Cain (Kenites =sons of Cain) He was the first murdered. His father was the first liar. You will not find Cain in Adam's linage...for a simple reason. If you are serious about studying the truth, get a Strong's Concordance and an Old King James Bible. This gets very deep and some people are not able to understand. Or refuse to. Traditional Church teaching of the Bible will not cut it. Hopefully people will not catalog you as a heretic for searching for the truth. These same people were in charge of the temple when Jesus was crucified. They knew exactly what they were doing. They were not blood Hebrew! They are still fooling the world at large as to who they really are! the "seed in both instances mean children...literally! If Adam and Eve were innocent, where did all that evil come from? I know I've thrown a lot at you. Pray first, then read and study. I hope this helps. Buck

Jesus was speaking to the religious leaders of that time. The attitudes and actions of these leaders clearly identified them as followers of the devil. They may not have been conscious of this, but their hatred of truth, their lies, and their murderous intentions indicated how much control the devil had over them. They were his tools in carrying out his plans; they spoke the very same language of lies. Satan still uses people to obstruct God's work(Genesis 4:8, Romans 5:12, ;1 John 3:12).

Jesus was speaking to the Pharisees and explaining to them that they did not believe in him nor did they take care of his people in a spiritual sense. People called Jesus God, but he wasn't speaking as if he was to be equal to God. He is not the almighty God. Jesus stated that if you have seen him, you have seen the father. This doesn't mean that God and Jesus are the same or equal, rather it should be take in the same context as son mirroring his father in thoughts and actions. In the scriptures, the "Father" is Jehovah, Jehovah is considered to be the Almighty-Alpha & Omega. Jesus even mentioned in John that the Father is Greater than he.

So in summation, Jesus was saying that they didn't listen to the father before he came and they didn't listen while in their presence. Telling the truth about the bible is why they don't belong to God, they spread lies and false teachings such as Hellfire and Immortality of the Soul to the Jews.

Jesus was speaking the local dialect. What He was _saying_ was beyond their understanding...
Back up to verse 31 and read thru verse 47 and you will see how the people were confused ...

" 31 Jesus said to the people who believed in him, “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. 32 And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
33 “But we are descendants of Abraham,” they said. “We have never been slaves to anyone. What do you mean, ‘You will be set free’?”

34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave of sin. 35 A slave is not a permanent member of the family, but a son is part of the family forever. 36 So if the Son sets you free, you are truly free. 37 Yes, I realize that you are descendants of Abraham. And yet some of you are trying to kill me because there’s no room in your hearts for my message. 38 I am telling you what I saw when I was with my Father. But you are following the advice of your father.”

39 “Our father is Abraham!” they declared.

“No,” Jesus replied, “for if you were really the children of Abraham, you would follow his example. 40 Instead, you are trying to kill me because I told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham never did such a thing. 41 No, you are imitating your real father.”

They replied, “We aren’t illegitimate children! God himself is our true Father.”

42 Jesus told them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, because I have come to you from God. I am not here on my own, but he sent me. 43 Why can’t you understand what I am saying? It’s because you can’t even hear me! 44 For you are the children of your father the devil, and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning. He has always hated the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, it is consistent with his character; for he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 So when I tell the truth, you just naturally don’t believe me! 46 Which of you can truthfully accuse me of sin? And since I am telling you the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Anyone who belongs to God listens gladly to the words of God. But you don’t listen because you don’t belong to God.”

Jesus spoke Aramaic. I do not believe he is speaking literally here, though. I believe he means that only people who believe in God fully can truly understand what he was saying.

To hear the language that Jesus spoke, watch "The Passion of the Christ".

Translate what?????? It isn't too hard to translate in any language that we are here to love and learn. Is that really that hard to translate? My loving creator is not that hard to understand in any language. ?????? I suppose I will never be able to translate this because....My light of my life never wrote any such thing called the BIBLE. Man did! ????Get it?????>? My father is not the Devil. D-evil...get it? My father's name was Carl Morris and he was never evil like the Devil I wish, and I swear I do, that all of you that belive in that man-written book, would open your eyes, look up to the skies and see...
Your guille is incredibly sad. You obviously need something to believe in/and base your beliefs/life plans on. That is really sad.

Can you not, for one moment, think about the way you live your life and if you live it kind, good, honest, lovingly...that your ticket to Heaven is guaranteed? I cannot believe how many people in society actually believe that if they don't pay tithing to a church (tax fee c r a p), that they will go to hell. Please wake up and realize that you wrote your life plan out before you came here and good or bad, it is for a reason. To learn something and one thing I have learned is....

Love each other. I will not judge you even if you have murdered. You came back around because, We, "GOD", decided there was more you needed to learn and "GOD" sent you straight back here, because believe it or not, we are here on this planet to love and learn. You chose your life plan before you came here and it was for a reason. Some of us, as nasty and phucced up as it is, will be murderers and child molestors and rapists. That is a sad fact but there is another fact folks seem to miss or want to miss. We are all, victim or predator, a lesson to those who choose to listen and we shall, good or bad, have a place in this lesson called life.

In a previous life, the serial killer or pedophile could have been a victim and chose his/her life plan to turn it around to see what it might feel like being on the other side of the coin. Lessons to learn. Love you and thank you for asking an incredibly deep question. Live your life through the beautiful heart you have. Screw the friggin stupid rules that the idiots in charge have made up. Live your life (and I know you know how) the way you would like all people to lovingly live theirs. Never hurt anybody and that includes yourself. See you in Heaven baby! Peace....OUT!

He spoke Aramaic. His name was YAHOSHUA. In Ex 23:13 He tells us not to use names of pagan mighty ones. What He is saying there is that spiritual things are spiritually discerned. The "Jews" had devolved into a pagan cult. They were following the adversary rather than YHVH. "Jew" is from "Yahudim" which means worshipper of YHVH, but they were not! See Rev 2:9 and Rev 3:9!

He was asking (in vs 43) why is my speaking not clear to you. He made his speech plain and simple and they still did not understand. They kept wanting a sign. He did many miracles before this and they still wanted more. He was telling them that because they did not believe, they had condemned themselves already. Hope this helps. "They" were the Sadducees and the Pharisees.
