My friend is in Surabya Indonesia and is trying to bring his son back to the US. The son has a US passport which is being held by the US Embassy. What can he do to bring the son back to the US? He is married to the mother. He won't leave Indonesia without his son?

There is something you aren't telling.

The US embassy won't hold a child's passport. It will, however, refuse to issue one if both parents don't sign the passport application. If your friend does not have custody, he will not get the passport and will not be able to take his son away from the mother.

I'm confused- are you asking about legal bariers to bringing the son back or does the son not want to leave Indonesia?

If there are legal problems I can't help- find some Mexican illegals and ask them how they got into the US.

If it's because he doesn't want to leave- then you can't really force him to if he's old enough.

I can't, I don't have an Indonesian son.
