Satguru or Sadguru means true guru. (Sanskrit सदगुरू sat=true), literally: true teacher.
The title means that his students have faith that the guru can be trusted and will lead them to moksha, enlightenment or inner peace.
It is based on a long line of Hindu philosophical understandings of the importance of knowledge and that the teacher, guru, is the sacred conduit to self-realization.

A true guru. To be a guru one must have a command from God. One who has direct Knowledge of Atman through Experience can only be enrolled as a guru. Mere study of books cannot make one a guru. A jivanmukta (liberated sage) is sadguru. He is a knower of Brahman. He is identical with the supreme Self. The sadguru is Brahman Himself. He is an ocean of bliss, knowledge and mercy. He shows you the right path. He tears your veil of ignorance. He transmutes your lower, diabolic nature. Sadgurus do not exhibit any miracles or siddhis.

Sad means TRUE
GURU means one who dispels darkness i.e the darknes in our Mind & Intellect.In other word one who removes our IGNORANCE of Truth.
The Guru who leads you from asath to sad is sadguru.
We forget our real nature and identifying with the ubnreal world we suffer.By removing this Ignorance the Sadguru leads us to Truth Bliss everlasting.

Guru means master & sad means true. So it means a real master. But spiritaully a Sadguru is the one who is a God realised himself & can guide us to God realization. he will guide us always & will help us to reach Krishna abode.
