i have a friend who takes 30mg of methadone a day( 10 mg 3 times a day?. he wants to quit but scared of the withdrawals. anyone been through this or know someone who has. full detail please.

HAVE THE CLINIC OR DOCTOR LOWER HIS DOSEAGE GRADUALLY, I KNOW ALL ABOUT THAT . MY COUSIN IS HOOKED ON IT , I WISH THERE WAS A WAY TO MAKE HER QUIT IT BUT I DON'T KNOW HOW TO DO IT , SHE IS HOOKED ..BUT GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS YOU BOTH!

he's lucky ,30 mgs is not a high dose. see if he can wean down 5 mgs aday . take motrin for the pain. and mallox for the nasea.it should not be that bad if he tapers off. about 8 years ago i weaned off of 65 mgs.

i have a friend that quit cold turkey and was really sick for a long time. i think it was better to do it that way then to stay on that crap. but its a tough road. i will promise you this though, once your off of it for a month things will start to get better. It takes atleast 2 weeks to stop getting sick to your stomach. coffee can help but dont over do it.
