So i was raised Christian and i love god and jesus with all my heart. but when i moved to the US 10 years ago, all american Christians would say bad things about other religions like Catholics, Mormons and others. Why is it that they are tought that God loves all in services and then in Sunday school they are taught that Catholics and mormons go to hell? Why dont they respect others?

Simple answer.....we are human and therefore are susceptible to the fallacies and characteristics of being human. Christianity teaches to overcome and progress and be more Christlike.

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

Many still have along way to go.

I don't think any TRUE Christian would deny that God loves everyone. Nor would they point a finger in the face of someone who doesn't believe and say "You are going to hell!" What Christians believe is that a personal relationship with Christ is the way to true salvation. Maybe SOME Christians say bad things about other religions, but try to refrain from using the word "all". Not ALL American Christians say bad things about other religions. Plus, you can respect another person and their religion AND think they are wrong!

Well, I am not sure ALL Christians diss others, I am sure there are some somewhere who don't...there doesn't seem to be very many on this site though...
I think it is their belief that "Christians" are "saved" because of their belief in Christ and it has been pounded into their head that unless you have been "saved" (according to their definition of saved) all else will go to hell.
How lovely.

I am Mormon and I believe all religions have some good, just not the whole gospel. I believe the complete and correct gospel is taught in being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I believe there are wonderful people in every religion, and probably some not-so-wonderful ones, even Mormons! We are all God's children and what does he ultimately want for us? TO RETURN TO LIVE WITH HIM FOREVER! And I have found that promise in the gospel.

They believe that God had a creator, a series of gods with no ultimate sourse.

They have not heard of St Thomas Aquinas:

Nature of the Trinity
Aquinas argued that God, while perfectly united, is also perfectly described by three interrelated persons. These three persons (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) are constituted by their relations within the essence of God. The Father generates the Son (or the Word) by the relation of self-awareness. This eternal generation then produces an eternal Spirit "who enjoys the divine nature as the Love of God, the Love of the Father for the Word."

This Trinity does not exist in separation from the world. On the contrary, the Trinity serves to communicate God's self and God's goodness to human beings. This takes place through the Incarnation of the Word in the person of Jesus Christ and through the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (indeed, the very essence of the Trinity itself) within those who have experienced salvation by God .

They believe eleven men claim to have seen the original golden tablets on which The Book of Mormon was given to Joseph Smith.
But most of them took back their statements."

They left the Church .

The only Apostle who renounced Christ's testimony hanged himself. The others were all martyrs for Him.

They do not understand:
The LDS faith came out of Protestantism which came out of Catholicism.

Not all Christians are like that. Obviously you never met me. I am an American Christian, and I don't disrespect ANY other religions, except perhaps satanism.
I believe that a person can be Catholic, Jehovah's Witness, or Mormon and STILL be a Christian. What right do I have to judge them?

Usually it's the Catholics, Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses that are telling all other Christians that we are going to hell. They all believe, for whatever reason, there is no other type of Christian. I have never been to a church that has condemned any Christian denomination to Hell, but I wouldn't be surprised if they exist. Jesus gave us teachings, laws and rules and we are supposed to tell of Him and God's Grace. After that there's nothing we can do. I have never and will never tell anyone they are going to Hell. I can tell anyone my belief. They can decide for themselves to agree, disagree or ignore. Do the same to me if you don't like my beliefs. Just don't let intolerance become hate and violence. Correction is a part of Love. Words can't hurt you unless you allow them to.

May God Bless you.

I think a christian must read the bible for themselves and have God teach them himself. There are so many false teachers and Jesus would have NEVER hated anyone for their beliefs. Anyone who is claiming to be a Christian and is dissing other people is NOT a Christian. We and Christians are supposed to be a light, and we can't do that if we are focused on how everyone else is "wrong."

For the same reason that other religions "diss" Christians. Each group thinks that it has all the answers, and that all of the others are simply ignorant of the truth of the message.

Well, technically Catholicism is the true Christianity. AS for why protestants say such things, I can only imagine. They have no room to talk. By the way, I am a protestant, and the only sections of my faith that I have a problem with are other protestant groups. I do not ' diss other religions' just sects in my own faith becuase they are wrong to treat other's that way.

I have asked this same question!

What I have seen is that many "American Christians," as you have called them, hold the idea that the teachings within the Bible are literal, even after Jesus explained that he teaches in parables.
And so, to me, if one is to take many of the teachings in the Bible as being -literal-, having no underlining message to them, then it can cause a judgemental mind if others don't also believe those exact same teachings.

For example:: The teaching that Jesus is the Holy, and only, begotten son of God. And, the teaching that talks about No one coming to God except thru Jesus. These two teachings seem to be the anchors in a lot of Christians' viewpoints. And when you take these teachings as being literal, then anyone else that doesn't hold fast to these ideas fall outside your belief. That is what can cause judgement.

Now, I am not trying to say that these are bad teachings to believe. In fact, I believe these are great teachings. But, I think that many Christians aren't looking deep enough into the underlinging Truth within the teachings of the Bible.

So, in my opinion, we need to start looking at the much deeper underlining message and teaching within the Bible (and ALL of Life's teachings) to understand how to live LOVINGLY with -and- for each other!

Jesus himself summed up the --Entire-- Bible in ONE sentance. In fact he even claimed that this sentance was the Sum of "The Law"...

Romans 13:8-10
8Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for he who loves his fellowman has fulfilled the law. 9The commandments, "Do not commit adultery," "Do not murder," "Do not steal," "Do not covet," and whatever other commandment there may be, are summed up in this one rule: "Love your neighbor as yourself." 10Love does no harm to its neighbor. Therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.

--->"Love your neighbor as yourself!"<---

I believe that that one sentance is the only teaching in the Bible we need to truly understand! If we can all FULLY Live that teaching, All individuals, regardless of their beliefs, will find Truth and God!

For God has NO religion... God is Love!
