Well life is a choice. Parents have wisdom and depending on your situation I wouldnt know.
Your 18 though, and if you are out of the house, you do what you feel you need to do! You dont have to listen to your parents, but sometimes its very wise to!

18 is just another age that allows you the right to vote and participate in some prviously restricted adult activities. Just like 21 when you can drink. You have to be self-sufficient to make your own rules. And even then you'll always be following somebodys rules. You have to work to make money to be self sufficient which means following your bosses rules, and company rules. The real question is when do you know more than your parents. The answer is never, but when you become physicaly and financialy independent from them , then you can turn their thoughts into advice and make your own mistakes your own way. Until then, their way or the highway. Oh , by the way, gettin to make all the decisions for yourself isn't all it's cracked up to be. When something goes bad or wrong , guess whos to blame.... Only yourself

My eighteen year old son still lives at home and I only tell him what to do because I care for him. He is in college and I have always and will continue to teach him about responsibility. Don't be so hasty to move out on your own, the world is a whole lot harder on you when you don't have your parents to fall back on. Be grateful for the roof over your head, the clothes on your back, and the food in your tummy and don't be in such a hurry to grow up. Your parents must love you a great deal to still try to guide you. I know one thing, I have strict guidelines about when my son is supposed to come home at night. I am not pushy about where he goes but I insist he tell me what time to expect him home and if he's going to stay with someone, then he needs to call home so I don't worry. It's not always easy being a parent and probably letting go is the hardest thing we go through.

Not exactly, but if you are living in their home then you should abide by the rules. It's just respectful. If your parent's rules seem somewhat extreme for your age, then sit them down and have an adult conversation about possibly making some changes. If you rebel against them, they will never ease up.

I guess as long as you're living in their house.
BUT- you shouldn't look at it like you have to 'do exactly', by 18 you are considered an adult in society and need to start making some major decisions- about college, a career, etc.
Take advantage of any advice your parents have to offer- they won't be around forever, and being an adult sucks sometimes.

If you are still with your parents out of respect because you are still in their house, you must follow house rules. Even when you are on your own. There are times when you still need advice from them. It is up to you whether you take it or not.

ummm....i'm not sure but if i had to guess i would say when you were under 18! you still owe your parents a certain amount of respect of course but always remember in order to receive respect you have to give it.

if youre living under their roof and under their care you should continue to follow rules and fundamentals so you can continue to create a peaceful living environment and to contribute.
If youre out on your own, taking care of yourself without their help...youre a man and you can sleep in if you want to. lol

If you are mature, you should be able to discuss stuff with them and hopefully they can be reasonable. Be mature and respectful about what you want and listen to their issues as well.

Sometimes it is hard to let our kids go!
